Follow the exploits of the children who go to a most unusual school - the sail-powered training ship Tobermory. When a film crew arrives in Tobermory Bay, Ben and Fee are invited to be extras. Ben and Fee MacTavish are twins who've been homeschooled on a submarine. Now they're heading to the school ship Tobermory. This is no ordinary school - it's a sailing ship where kids from around the world train to be sailors and learn about all things nautical.

Ben and Fee MacTavish and their schoolmates onboard the School Ship Tobermory are headed thousands of miles from their base in Mull to a small island in the Caribbean. They will learn extraordinary details about Captain Macbeth's past and come face to face with modern-day pirates. The students and crew aboard the Tobermory will have to band together and use their wits to escape harm and overcome the evil pirates.

After successfully thwarting a dastardly plan to steal rare marine animals, Ben and Fee MacTavish feel they can relax and continue learning all about nautical life onboard School Ship Tobermory. But it's not long before their everyday routine is interrupted by an extraordinary event. The crew find themselves embroiled in another adventure that leads them to a small island in the Caribbean, where they learn about Captain Macbeth's past and come face to face with modern-day pirates.

Ben and Fee MacTavish and the rest of the School Ship Tobermory crew head down under to take part in a tall ships race. But after a good start the Tobermory runs aground, having first dropped out to rescue a local boy, Kimba, stranded on the rocks. When the ship's dog, Henry, disappears, Kimba helps them find him. But they begin to realise that a missing dog is the least of their problems....

The School Ship Tobermory and its intrepid young crew are back in Hebridean waters. When a violent storm blows them off course to a remote island, they discover a fisherman's journal written 100 years ago which tells of a mysterious shipwreck crammed with treasure. But without a precise location, where do they start looking? An extraordinary chance encounter gives them a valuable clue.
