When an EMP takes down the power grid and everything that runs on a computer chip, Melissa has no choice but to walk from her office in downtown Salt Lake City to her home in a suburb twenty miles south. With a few co-workers to keep her company, she isn’t too worried—until they begin their journey and discover how quickly society can fall apart.

Back in their neighborhood, Alex and Melissa settle in, meeting with neighbors and setting up security while trying to procure the items needed to round out their supplies. But all is not well. Though their street has banded together, disagreements in the wider neighborhood keep harmony at bay. And when threats from outside the neighborhood start pressing in, the fracturing inside the neighborhood may be the death of them all.

After a group of thugs burn down their house, Alex and Melissa and their children try to settle into an empty house on their street. But there are lingering tensions in the neighborhood and it doesn’t take long for emotions to come to a boil. Then, when people start to run out of food, they become desperate, turning on those they believe still have supplies, including Alex and Melissa. Alliances are created and decisions are made, decisions with deadly consequences. Will Alex, Melissa, and their children survive this new challenge, or will those who covet what they have be the end of them?
