A Boy, Everywhere Story

Boy, Everywhere chronicles their harrowing journey and struggle to settle in a new land. Forced to sell all their belongings and leave their friends and beloved grandmother behind, Sami and his family travel across the Middle East to Turkey, where they end up in a smuggler's den. From there, they cross the treacherous waters of the Mediterranean and manage to fly to England only to be separated and detained in an immigration prison for the crime of seeking asylum. Yet the transition from refugee to immigrant in a new life will be the greatest challenge Sami has ever faced.

After their friend Mark’s mum wins the lottery and gets a giant house with an indoor pool, Ali and Sami have been having the time of their lives hanging at Mark’s house. Even their friend Aadam gets a job there, which means he can make more money for his legal battle for UK residency. But when some money goes missing, Aadam is accused of stealing it—and all three boys are unceremoniously kicked out of Mark’s house in suspicion.

Ali’s just a regular Year Eight kid, looking forward to the best summer ever with his boys, Sami and Mark. Mark’s got a new pool and they’re gonna hang out in it and play football every day … But the universe has other ideas, and it’s not long before their plans are in tatters. Ali and Sami find themselves kicked out of Mark’s house and their friend Aadam, already threatened with deportation, is accused of theft. And just when Ali thought things couldn’t get worse, his dad moves back into town.

Sami and Ali dream of playing for the school football team. They practise in the park every day and work hard on their skills. But acing the trials is the last of the boys' worries when they're made to feel they don't belong on the team because of the colour of their skin. Ali just wants to tackle the ball on the pitch. Now he's being forced to tackle the racism in his team too. But how can he, when he's told it's 'just banter'?
