Acerca de esta escucha
Marvel has set the stage for a major shakeup with the announcement of Age of Revelation, a new event launching this October to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Age of Apocalypse. The saga propels the X-Men a full decade into the future, centering on Doug Ramsey—now Revelation—who’s evolved his mutant powers to shape worlds with words. What appears at first to be a mutant utopia, crafted by Revelation alongside Cyclops’ team, soon reveals darker undertones: humanity is vanishing, and not everyone is on board. Already, select comic stores have started receiving limited “shadow drop” editions of X-Men: Age of Revelation #0, offering fans a tantalizing preview of the dystopian drama on the horizon. The full storyline will ripple throughout Marvel’s line, spawning new titles like Amazing X-Men and unexpected crossovers such as Radioactive Spider-Man and Iron and Frost, with more series details to be revealed soon.
On the DC side, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman continue to headline hotly anticipated releases. Superman #28 and the Absolute Superman and Absolute Wonder Woman runs are drawing attention with multiple variant covers and brisk sales in recent months. Fans of Batman are also anticipating the upcoming Batman #161 by Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb, as well as the new spin on Gotham’s past in Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice, taking the caped crusader back to an alternate Victorian era.
Meanwhile, the Marvel Swimsuit Special: Friends, Foes & Rivals #1 splashes onto shelves, offering a lighter take on iconic and obscure characters enjoying some sun, while Jeff the Land Shark continues his cosmic adventures in IT’S JEFF: Infinity Paws #1 and the latest issue of Miles Morales: Spider-Man delivers new twists for the beloved Spider-hero. The Fantastic Four make headlines with the launch of a new #1 issue, promising a blend of classic cosmic adventure and unexpected time travel mishaps that scatter Marvel’s first family throughout Earth’s history.
Crossovers and mashups continue to capture the imagination—Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto both sit high on June’s top sellers list. On the indie front, series like Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees and The Unchosen are generating critical buzz for their original stories.
Collectors can also enjoy special printings, facsimile editions, and a new Fantastic Four bookazine loaded with interviews and retrospectives. And as always, variant covers remain a sought-after prize, whether it’s a retrovision take on Psylocke or eye-catching wraparounds for the latest Marvel and DC releases.
With such a dynamic mix from superhero epics to indie darlings, the comic book landscape is alive with creativity and surprises, giving every fan a reason to visit their local shop this week and beyond.
