Voting is the backbone of republics and representative democracies. Governments that rely on the public’s opinion to choose who will lead the masses and what rules will be put in place. It’s one of the things we identify as an important part of living in a free country. Many countries throughout the world have their citizens cast their vote for officials and policies, putting the power in the hands of the people. Sometimes though, the voting process is just for show.
