    Apr 13 2025

    Send us a text

In the season 9 premiere, Elyse and Leandra sit down in the magick kitchen with Dodie Graham McKay, author of 'The Witch's Ally', an incredible book on working with familiars. You'll learn that familiars aren't always animals, and in fact, historically, animals aren't the most common type of familiar. And the polar bear story Dodie shares from her time in the Great White North is one of Elyse's favorites we've ever had told here on the show!

Dodie Graham McKay is a writer, green witch, and filmmaker. She is inspired to document and share stories that capture the beauty of nature and the visible and invisible realms of magic and witchcraft. She is the author of the books Earth Magic: The Elements of Witchcraft (Llewellyn, 2021), and A Witch’s Ally: Building a Magical Relationship with Animal Familiars & Companions (Llewellyn, 2024), and her documentary films include The WinniPagans, Starry Nights and the Fibe TV 4-part series Exploring the Sacred. Dodie spends her spare time walking her dogs and facilitating a busy coven. She lives in Treaty One Territory, Homeland of the Métis Nation, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.Learn more about Dodie and get her book at her website: https://www.dodiegrahammckay.com/

  • S8E13 - Queer Rites of Passage and Daring to Be Visible in The Queer Community with Enfys J Book
    Mar 30 2025

    Send us a text

In this episode, Elyse gets real with a bit of a bolder coming out conversation with Enfys J Book, bestselling author of Queer Qabalah and their newest book, Queer Rites. We discuss the importance of rites of passage, almost lost from our modern world, and how important they are to infuse into our magical practices and traditions.

We also go deep on the challenges of cis presenting queer people (Elyse is raising her hand here) and the importance of shining bright even when it feels scary.

Enfys J. Book (they/them) is the author of the Gold COVR award-winning Queer Qabala, co-author (with Ivo Dominguez, Jr.) of Sagittarius Witch, and author of the forthcoming Queer Rites: A Magickal Grimoire to Honor Your Milestones with Pride (Llewellyn, 2025). They are the High Priest of the Fellowship of the Ancient White Stag coven near Washington, DC. Enfys has taught classes on magickal practice around the world. They are also the creator of majorarqueerna.com, a website devoted to queer magickal practice with a focus on Qabala, and host a podcast called "4 Quick Q's: Book Talk with Enfys," where they interview pagan authors using questions determined by a roll of the dice. Enfys and their books can be found at https://majorarqueerna.com/

love these two!

thank you so much for taking care of your community in this way! I appreciate that you speak in plain language, are candid and bluntly honest with the information and experiences that you share, so that we are less likely to possibly misinterpret something.
I hope that we're able to keep listening to and learning from you for years to come!
