    In 2020 Neil began a challenge to play all of the world's top courses. You can read his reviews at www.thegolfpilgrim.com. Now you can listen to his reviews, as he gives an honest account of the courses, the practice facilities, and the food available. Is it value for money? Will you be made to feel welcome as a visitor?


    There are champagne and comedy moments to discuss, in the company of his fellow journalist and pal Ian Woods. Ian's a former Sky News and BBC Correspondent, who's now working for ITV. He's played a lot of great courses too, and is a former Captain of the Press Golfing Society.


    In the coming months we will add to the reviews, assembling a go-to site to help you choose your next golf destination. All the episodes are stand alone - you don't have to listen to them in any particular order, but find out more about your hosts in the Who? What? Why trailer episode.

    When doctor-turned-golf archietct, Alistair MacKenzie unveiled the design for his very first course, even fellow members of this Yorkshire club were a little sceptical. They asked for a second opinion. Harry Colt took a look and gave it the thumbs up.

    After that, MacKenzie was in demand designing courses which are still among the very best in the world. Cypress Point, Augusta National, Royal Melbourne…

    Respect the history, but enjoy the present…because Alwoodley merits its place among the top courses in the UK.

    Half an hour from the famous sights in the Eternal City is a course which Neil reckons is one of the toughest he's played - but he wasn't helped by an accident en route….

    Beware the injured golfers! Ian is forced to skip playing Burnham & Berrow because of a broken finger as well as foot surgery, while Neil isn't much better - hobbling round Burnham & Berrow with a painful toe affliction!

    Which is a shame because this Open Qualifying Course is a gem - and counts Justin Rose among its top admirers. The list of men who had a hand in designing and refining the course reads like a who's who of golf architects….
