Life Beyond Guidance: God Is Still There When There Is No Word

This is the seventh of eight sessions from a 3-day conference hosted by African Enterprise with the theme “Hearing the Voice of God.”
    Pietermaritzburg, South Africa
    August 18, 1993

As Dallas prepares his students to put what they’ve learned into practice, he provides a practical framework for seeking, discerning, and acting on God’s guidance. Be sure to download a copy of the “A Formula for Living with Guidance” he put on the board for his students. If you have a copy of the book, Hearing God, you’ll find these points in detail on the last pages of the chapter called “A Life More than Guidance.”

The Kind of Person That God Speaks to in Fullness

This is the sixth session from a 3-day conference hosted by African Enterprise with the theme “Hearing the Voice of God.”

    Pietermaritzburg, South Africa

    August 17, 1993

The kind of person that God speaks to in fullness is the kind of person that the word of God flows into, overruns, overwhelms, moves through and becomes a social and historical reality where they are.

    You’ll see this in:

    1. People whose belief in the substance and power of God’s word opens them up like a channel.

    2. Disciples of Jesus who have learned to work with the power and authority of the word.

    3. Those who live with God’s word so richly that it becomes a reality that is working in its own right.

Some of the realities of God’s word that are touched on in this episode are explained more deeply in session three of Dallas’s series, “The Parabolic Teaching About Christ’s Kingdom by Christ Himself.”

Renovare is offering a webinar called “How God Speaks” on March 13. This is an opportunity to join in a discussion about how we learn to discern the voice of God. You can submit your questions ahead of time. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-dallas-willard-podcast/id1762596670

Does God Speak Today? : Facing the Issues

This is the fifth session from a 3-day conference hosted by African Enterprise with the theme “Hearing the Voice of God.”

    Pietermaritzburg, South Africa

    August 17, 1993

This episode focuses on four general assumptions that keep people from entering into a life of conversation with God:

    1. God would not communicate with run-of-the-mill human beings by surrounding them with His presence and speaking to them.
    2. God does not communicate with individuals directly.
    3. God cannot communicate with human beings.
    4. God should not communicate with individuals.

    For Further Study:

The Frank Laubach book Dallas wants us to rush right out and read is Game with Minutes. The other book mentioned is Letters by a Modern Mystic. Both of these are contained in Laubach’s book, Man of Prayer.

See Hearing God, chapter 4: “Our Communicating Cosmos.”
