Acerca de esta escucha

It’s happening. The conservative movement is splitting right down the middle. On one side, you’ve got the postliberals, nationalists, and traditionalists who say it’s time to drop the mask, use state power, and finally fight the Left for real. And on the other side are the classical liberals and libertarians, warning that once you abandon principle, you’ve already lost.

They call it the “Woke Right.” But is that label fair, or is it just a desperate attempt to control the Right?

Generally love the podcast. Of the conservative podcasts I listen to, you do the best at steelmaning opposing perspectives.

A comparison was made between the Woke left and Mormonism that was a weak comparison in my opinion. I think that the point being made was that Mormonism is a perversion of Christianity in the way that Woke leftism is a perversion of Classical liberalism. I think a stronger comparison would be any brand of Christianity that embarrasses non-biblical popular woke philosophy in order to please man. Effectively, putting love of man before love of God.

Your comparison fits in the sense that Mormonism believes heretical things to mainstream Nicene Christianity. They are a family of sects that reject the Nicene Creed and believe that Certain passages of the Bible were mistranslated. They believe in continuous revelation. To the degree they disagree with the Bible, it is because they believe God has since clarified that which was lost or mistranslated. To most Christians, that is more than enough to make them heretics. Where the comparison breaks down for me is that the most dominant form of Mormonism, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, produces people who strive to love God and their neighbor. As a whole, we don't think God's teachings should be changed because they offend some. We also don't strive to force our views on others by force of law. This may surprise you, but while we believe different (arguablly heretical) things, in action, we are more similar than different.

There are other churches that are only too happy to embrace woke non-biblical teachings to tap into the progressive population. That segment of Christianity would be a more fitting comparison, in my opinion.
