Impossible to track

Good stories, but jumped from one series to another making it impossible to follow from one episode to another. Finally just abandoned in frustration. Waste of time.

Emphasis on areas that are pro communist while omitting their atrocities.

This is how history should be told.

There is a lot of information. The events are explained in the context of the political situation that made them possible. Sometimes - unavoidable.
I have seen the Cold War from the other side of the Iron Curtain. I've heard and laughed at some of the conspiracy theories about CIA. Back then, we were convinced that's what they were... It was nice to have all the pieces together, try to make sense of it all.

Verification of childhood fears were real.

Thank you for confirming my fear of communism. I have thought that I was overly sensitive. Once we obtained a black and white television my parents watched the news daily. As American citizens we need to unite to maintain our country!

Biased, non historical

Just started the first series on the Cold War. As a person born in the early 50s I saw and lived through the later part of the cold War. I thought I would enjoy a podcast, albeit I knew with alternative thought. However, I'm disappointed that this podcast seems lacking in even the most basics of equal handed treatment of the subject.
In mentioning how the soviet union had lost 10 to 20 million people in WW2 due to fighting and famine... Well, yes kinda, but the Stalin created famine (10 million dead) of the 1930s wasn't even mentioned, leaving the impression the valient soviet union was only victimized by war. Plus, the secret police killing of all able military officers before and during the war didn't help military effectiveness.
Next, referencing the FBI inquiring about communist activity in the late 40s and 50s is portrayed as horrid and racist under J Edgar Hoover. But, the Gulag Archepeligo, the islands of camps designated to destroy anyone of any suspicion in the soviet union, is, of course, not considered. That and the KGB activity around the world seems not important, but the Americans, they are the problem, they just don't see the innocence and genius of Marxian philosophy in practice.
I don't mind alternative history if it's substantiated. But, willful disregard of facts makes this podcast, in my view, invalid.
Of course, it's so popular now to be anti American in philosophy and action. In ten years or so another podcast can be produced, analysing why the US is in such peril, what happened?

Poor Narrative - Performed Well

I’ve listened to and enjoyed quite a few other episodes of this podcast; however, the substance of this recording was horrendous. Toward the beginning, the writer rather explicitly gives equal credence to the ideologies of communism and capitalism. Hopefully this is rectified in subsequent episodes. Surely the 100 million deaths caused by communist dictators such as Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot will testify to the outright superiority of freedom to tyranny. I did laugh at one point when they mentioned the USSR leadership feared Eastern Europeans wouldn’t need the communist party if “they could heat their homes and fill their bellies.” At least a free market could get reasonably-priced food to citizens as opposed to the disastrous failure of Stalin’s planned socialist economy.
