  • A Flock Named Murder- "Incendiary Sanctum" Review by Ray Wheeler
    Apr 15 2025
Toronto’s atmospheric post-black metal trio A FLOCK NAMED MURDER has done it again! Their sophomore full-length, Incendiary Sanctum, drops May 2nd via Hypaethral Records, and it’s nothing short of a masterpiece. This is an album that defies boundaries, merging black metal, post-metal, doom, and death metal into a sprawling, cohesive journey through sound and emotion. From the haunting field recordings in “The Eulogy Fields” to the crushing intensity of “Pierced Flesh Catharsis,” every track is a testament to their artistic evolution. The band pushes their sound to its limits with intricate melodies, visceral screams, and hypnotic atmospheres. Fans of Agalloch, Neurosis, and Cult of Luna will feel right at home while discovering something entirely unique. With stunning cover art by Adam Burke and guest appearances from Luke Farndon (Drofnosura) and Rob McAllister (Centuries Of Decay), Incendiary Sanctum is both a sonic and visual triumph. Cam Mueller describes the album as “a eulogy burning away the very idea of worship,” exploring themes of loss, memory, and humanity’s fleeting existence. 🎶 Don’t miss this bold exploration of extremity and emotion. • Butthole Surfers "Live at the Leather Fly" Review by Grant Crossan
    Apr 15 2025
Arguably one of the most notoriously named bands in rock history, Butthole Surfers made a career out of upending the establishment and irritating the easily annoyed. Their albums were abrasive yet tuneful, much like their live performances. Rising to the challenge of bottling these audible antics, Sunset Blvd. is prepping the release of Butthole Surfer’s third live album, LIVE AT THE LEATHER FLY on May 9, 2025. Unearthed in the archives of Butthole history, the 21-track performance’s origins are shrouded in mystery. The “where” or “when” it was recorded is debatable, but the band have created a mythos surrounding it. "Back in the ‘80s, Gibby [Haynes, vocalist/guitarist] used to fantasize about a nightclub called The Leather Fly. He wanted it to have a stuffed leather fly hanging in front of it,” reminisces Paul Leary (guitar/vocals/”art master”) about the illusory venue that this show was recorded.
