Talkin' Slayer: A Metal Podcast and Half-@ssed Audiobook

De: D.X. Ferris
  • Resumen

  • Talkin' Slayer tells the story of Slayer, the thrashiest of the Big Four thrash metal bands. After some introduction episodes, this weekly show recaps the history of the Los Angeles heavy metal institution, in chronological order: how the band happened, when things fell apart, how they put them back together, and what it all meant—no, MEANS. After Episode 9, Patreon supporters receive every weekly episode. Talkin' Slayer is written, deeply researched, lightly edited, and mostly rehearsed, with some production value. Episodes start after :60-:90 of intro; no need to skip the first 20 minutes.

  • Episode 71: The Rulers Are Back... A Fresh Look at Rick Rubin and Reign in Blood
    Apr 14 2025

Todays's topics include a detailed look at Rick Rubin, Slayer's enigmatic longtime producer, executive producer, label boss, and benefactor. Stay tuned, and you'll learn more about how the band made Reign in Blood... what fans think about it... what Jeff said about the, ahem, German content in "Angel of Death"... an update on what happened to the long-lost album cover artwork... and more.

The old version of the Reign In Blood chapter is the most popular episode after the Jeff Hanneman tributes. Now that chapter is bigger and better. And badder. And deffer. This week, you hear the additions to the chapter in the new version of the unofficial, exhaustively researched band biography "SLAYER 66 2/3: A METAL BAND BIOGRAPHY" (REBORN & RE-REMASTERED 4TH EDITION).

Click below to listen to Talkin' Slayer, Episode 15, the pre-update rundown of Reign in Blood:

You wanted the best...this is the best.

I'm a huge Slayer fan and have been for 37 years. I've read all the D.X. Ferris books on the band and absolutely loved it all. The podcast is the same stuff but with the passion you would expect. I always look forward to weekly episodes and I'm a subscriber so I don't miss anything. keep up the great work.
