  • Bruce Goldstein is a distinguished film programmer, distributor, and preservationist based in New York City. Since 1986 he has been the repertory programmer for Film Forum, There, he curated over 500 film festivals and played a pivotal role in reintroducing more than 1,000 classic films to audiences, often using 35mm prints and digital restorations. In 1997, he founded Rialto Pictures, a film distribution company dedicated to reissuing international cinema classics. Under his leadership, Rialto has released over 75 films, including works by directors like Jean-Luc Godard, Federico Fellini, and Jean-Pierre Melville. He has received numerous accolades, including the French Order of Arts and Letters and the Mel Novikoff Award from the San Francisco International Film Festival . He was also the first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for Film from George Eastman Museum in 2013 . Beyond his programming and distribution work, Goldstein has authored and produced several documentaries, such as In the Footsteps of Speedy (2015) and Uncovering The Naked City (2020), which explore the cinematic history of New York City. Here Bruce discusses his life in movies, and his childhood heroes becoming his friends and colleagues.
