The desk then turned to the market volatility, with the S&P and Nasdaq both posting their 4th straight week of losses. Over the weekend, Treasury Secretary Bessent spoke to NBC’s “Meet the Press” and called these market corrections “healthy.” The desk also hit this morning’s retail sales data, which increased 0.2% on the month, better than the downwardly revised decline of 1.2% the prior month but below the Dow Jones estimate for a 0.6% rise.
