  • More Time: The Murder of Sean Babbitt
    Apr 1 2025
A tragic case of child custody gone wrong. On Easter Sunday 2019, Sean Babbitt was hopeful about his future and his fight for more time with his 3-year-old son. The next morning, during his weekly visitation, he was shot and killed by his ex-mother-in-law, a retired police detective

Sean Babbitt enjoyed a joyful Easter Sunday with his family on April 21, 2019, watching the Golden Knights and Game of Thrones, and playing with hula hoops with his nieces. Sean was in good spirits. His attorney had told him that he had a very good chance of modifying his custody agreement, and he was hopeful that he’d soon be spending more time with his 3-year-old son.

The next morning, Sean drove to his former mother-in-law’s house for his weekly supervised visitation with his son. While Sean was feeling positive about the future, his mother-in-law was distraught and decided to take matters into her own hands.

  • Unraveling the Past - Linda Sue Anderson and Theresa Romano
    Mar 18 2025
Two women, two decades-old mysteries, and one powerful tool—DNA. In this episode, we examine how forensic genealogy helped identify Linda Sue Anderson, once an unknown homicide victim, and how new DNA testing finally led to an arrest in the brutal 2003 murder of Theresa Romano. How did investigators connect the dots after so many years? And will justice be served?

DNA has become an important investigative tool, not only when analyzing current cases, but for solving cold cases from decades ago.

With this rapidly evolving technology, smaller and smaller amounts of DNA can be used to identify unknown victims and unknown murderers using genetic genealogy and other investigative techniques. Because of this, there is new hope for people who have lost loved ones that they might achieve some level of closure.

We’ve got two of these cases for you today, one from 1991 and one from 2003. As with so many of the stories we cover, we don’t know a lot about the victims, because the media prefers to focus on the more sensational aspects rather than the victims and those they leave behind.

In one case we have the typical story of a woman who allegedly just up and left her family, and in the other, we have a brutal murder that remained unsolved for 21 years

  • No Escape: The Murder of Brittney Lavoll
    Mar 11 2025
A young mother of three, Brittney Lavoll, did everything right to escape her abuser—but it wasn’t enough. Her tragic murder sparks urgent questions about domestic violence and gun laws. Plus, the mysterious disappearance of Courtney Lynn Townsend raises troubling questions, as her burned-out car and partial remains leave her family searching for answers.

In a 24-hour city like Las Vegas, early morning means many workers are getting their days started while others are clocking out and heading home at the end of a long shift. In the pre-dawn hours of March 25, 2010, a scream broke the silence.

Lee and Wade turned their heads toward the Jack in the Box restaurant across the street. Moments later they heard a gunshot and saw a woman collapse in the parking lot.

They ran to help, but it was too late. A young mother of three—who had done everything right to escape her abuser—had just been murdered. And the man who killed her? He should never have had a gun.

  • Two Cities, Four Murders, One Cause
    Mar 4 2025
He had already taken a life—and the system let him walk free. Less than a year after his release, Mark Michael Ford murdered again, leaving two families shattered and a community searching for answers. Domestic violence and intimate partner violence don’t just stay behind closed doors—they ripple through entire communities with devastating consequences. From Las Vegas to Reno, four lives were lost to the same underlying cause.

This week we’re going to narrow the focus a little bit from Domestic Violence and describe two recent tragic cases of intimate partner violence. IPV is what it’s called when violence occurs between couples who are dating or married, while DV can encompass any violence in a household, such as a parent abusing a child.

Our first case started as intimate partner violence and spun out into what was essentially a murder spree, one that destroyed the lives of two families. What makes this case so frustrating is that this wasn't the first time this murderer had taken a life.

  • Teen Dating Violence Awareness
    Feb 25 2025
Teen dating violence is more common—and more dangerous—than many realize. This week, we explore a shocking Las Vegas case that highlights the deadly consequences of controlling and abusive relationships among teenagers.

We talk a lot in the podcast about domestic violence in married couples, and we’ve shared cases of domestic violence among couples who were dating, but today we’re focusing on Domestic violence in a group we don't often cover, teenagers.

Growing up is hard, dating is hard, and learning what is acceptable and what isn't in a first relationship is something people have to fumble through if the behavior isn't modeled correctly by a trusted adult.

Teenagers need their parents, guardians, or other adults to teach them right from wrong as they grow up, and how to act when dating isn't an exception. So today we’ll talk about that, and offer a recent example of young love gone horribly wrong.

    Feb 18 2025
Margaret Rudin was known as the Black Widow in the Media, but this week we take a closer look at her trial and everything since.

The story of Ron and Margaret Rudin has everything true crime producers and fanatics look for—secret recordings, alleged accomplices, secret lovers, lost evidence, and a trial that could only be described as a circus. But as we close the book, an important question still looms: Did Margaret Rudin really kill Ron Rudin?

…or was she the victim of an overzealous prosecution, ineffective defense, and a media frenzy that branded her 'The Black Widow' before the trial even began? This week, we cover the final years of Margaret’s saga —and whether justice was ever truly served for Ron.

This final episode may leave you questioning everything you thought you knew.

Part 3 of a 3 part series on the so-called Black Widow of Las Vegas.

A quiet fishing trip on Lake Mohave took a chilling turn when a group of airmen stumbled across something unexpected—a human skull and a diamond bracelet with the letters R O N.

As the investigation into Ron’s disappearance uncovered more and more circumstantial evidence against Margaret, she quickly became the police’s odds-on favorite suspect, and they leaned in hard to their suspicions of her.
