Every parent and educator should listen to this in full. The number of times I fought with my daughter's school because I knew she couldn't read and was going through the motions— only to have it suggested that it was her fault or my fault... The number of hoops and the personal expense I had to jump through to get her an IEP, and even then couldn't get what she needed...

To find out now that this was all by design! As a parent, I'm so many different shades of angry, I don't even know where to begin. Thankfully, I had the resources to pull my daughter and homeschool and teach her properly. She'll graduate college with a 4.0 this spring, in fact. But I also am well aware of my own privilege here. How many parents have gone through this same thing and couldn't afford to help their kids?
