  • Gene Hackman Tribute + Oscar Round-Up: Conan, Winners and Why that Bond tribute? - EP 147
    Mar 7 2025

This week the boys are back in the form of dynamic duo, Miguel and Ed!

One of the big news points in the last week was the passing of legendary actor Gene Hackman, so naturally we wanted to pay tribute and recall some of our favorites of his vast career, but also took the opportunity to check out a fan favorite, Crimson Tide!

Speaking of tributes, we then move onto our feature discussion this week, the winners of the 97th Academy Awards!

We take a look at some of the big winners of the night (and losers), but we also get into the best looks of the night, best moments, CONAN, the musical numbers (what was with that Bond tribute?), and yes, those speeches.

It’s a laugh and a half… except for the grieving for GH, of course, but we keep it light and tight, so enjoy!

Be sure to like and subscribe, follow and comment - we’re here for your thoughts. And don’t forget to check us out, wherever you get your podcasts, or find us on Youtube!

Kathleen Kennedy is Leaving Lucasfilm, but who will replace her?

    BUT ALSO!!

    It’s the Punchies!

With the 97th annual Academy Awards set to air this Sunday (3/2/25) the N3RDS decided to upstage it with their very own awards show!

The Punchies bring the best and brightest to the forefront with such categories as “Best Movie”, “Best Show”, and of course, “Dumbest thing Ed said this week”!

Each nerd gets a chance to highlight their favorites of 2024 with some unexpected surprises.

Plus a bevy of news! The world mourns Amazon getting creative control of the James Bond movies as well as Kathleen Kennedy stepping down from LucasFilms (Star Wars). What will the future be for some of our favorite franchises?

Then the nerds wrap it all up in a bow with “What We’re Into” but not before bullying Ed some more with “Let’s talk about this now”.

Since becoming president of Lucasfilm in 2012, Kathleen Kennedy has overseen the production of several films:

    • "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015): This film introduced new characters Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), while bringing back original trilogy icons Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

    • "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (2016): A standalone film featuring Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, and Ben Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic.

    • "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (2017): Continuing the saga with returning actors Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac, joined by Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.

    • "Solo: A Star Wars Story" (2018): A prequel featuring Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo, with Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke as Qi'ra.

    • "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" (2019): Concluding the sequel trilogy with Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren.

    • "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" (2023): The fifth installment in the Indiana Jones series, starring Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role.

Additionally, Kennedy has produced several live-action series for Disney+, including "The Mandalorian" (2019–present), "The Book of Boba Fett" (2021), "Obi-Wan Kenobi" (2022), "Andor" (2022–present), and "Ahsoka" (2023–present).
