    May 31 2022

Luci talks about how she has always been crazy about kids. She has, she says a kind of radar that seems to put them at ease and helps her to understand their needs and feelings. When a child enters the room, it is as if someone turned on the sun on for her. Luci feels it is a blessing to have a career using her artist’s eye and her heart for children! She started her photography career in San Diego, California in 1982 after many years pursuing photography as an art. Her business has always been out of her home because the commute (upstairs to downstairs) is ideal. Clients seem very comfortable coming to her historical South Park neighborhood and her charming 1911 bungalow. For children it feels like “Aunt Luci’s House”. As a successful, full time wedding and children’s photographer for over 35 years, Luci knows what it is like to struggle to create and maintain a thriving photography business with the ups and downs in a highly competitive industry. SELLING IS HER SUPER POWER with most clients investing in 3 to 7 Wall portraits, and Albums almost every time. Dec 22 2021

In this Podcast, Scotland based photographer Ally Stuart-Ross mentions that she became interested in selling things before she was interested in photography.

Single mom to four children, Ally's first paid photographic job was what she describes as "the wedding from hell", and there were many funny stories at weddings to follow, like dropping the brides bouquet out of a castle window in front of all the guests, and flooding a table with coffee at a reception.

Her first "wee" camera she had at 7 years old, and discovered that she loved taking photos.

Ally was influenced by a photographer called Walter Kerr. She used to spend summers on a holiday island in Scotland and there was things going on everyday for kids to do. Bathing beauty, sand castle competitions, that sort of thing. Walter photographed everything and the next morning displayed them in his wife’s shop window. Everyone bought them and Ally thought this concept was brilliant. She felt it was literally printing money.
