In desperate need of a fresh batch of police officers, the newly appointed Mayor of a crime-plagued metropolis lowers the bar for the recruitment process. This opens the door for any rando to join Commandant Eric Lassard's prestigious Police Academy, not the least of which is Carey Mahoney, who is light-hearted and essentially required to join or face prison time, so he’s doing everything he can to be thrown out. Lieutenant Harris, can't wait to see them quit as he finds them too disgraceful to wear badges. When a riot breaks out, and police are under siege, it is then up to our lot of misfits to see if they have the guts and courage to wear the badge and save the city. Also, if you’re looking for love and a little dancing, the Blue Oyster is the bar for you.
