  • Jesus Transforming Iran
    Mar 17 2025

Iran is one of the world’s most hostile countries to the gospel – yet the church grows rapidly.

Lana Silk, CEO of Transform Iran joins us to share stories of the way God is befriending, speaking to, protecting, and transforming the people of Iran.

She shares Meesha’s story, who’s family was murdered and she thought it was because Allah was punishing her. That’s when Jesus showed up. And Fatima’s story, she was so hard-hearted against the gospel but then she heard God speaking her language!

There’s the believer who was supernaturally protected in prison and then the Islamic scholar who did a deep dive into Islam and Christianity and now is winning Muslim leaders to Jesus. Transform Iran reaches the lost, disciples converts and develops nation-transforming leaders!

Also in this podcast, the Holy Spirit will lead you today. In a very busy week Shawna was asked how she was doing. As she began to complain about it all the Holy Spirit redirected her thoughts with a specific scripture. If He did that for Shawna He will do it for you too!

And last, last week Perry was sharing with his son, “I wish God would do a bible-sized miracle for the people I know who’ve been suffering for so long.” A few days after sharing that he didn’t get what he wanted, but what he needed.

  • “I Just Can’t Seem to Find My Way Back to God”
    Mar 10 2025

A Perry and Shawna listener shares, “I’ve fallen away from Christ, and I can’t seem to find my way back.” Where do you go? What do you do when you can’t find your way back to God?

Dr. Jeremy Grinnell earned his PhD in Systematic Theology from Calvin Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI, and taught theology at a West Michigan seminary for nearly 15 years. He joins us to answer your Bible questions.

After a conversation about finding our way back home, Ronda asks, “In the Bible it says that God provides all we need. If this is true, why is it people like me do not sleep when medical professionals state we require 7-9 hours of sleep?”

    Also in this episode:

What do you do when you don’t have what you need to get the job done? When you feel ill-equipped to be used by God? There’s a pretty incredible story in the Bible of God providing lunch for 5,000 men from a boy’s lunch. If we bring what we have to God, I think He can use that. We

Perry shares about the morning his son called with tears saying “Bri has cancer.” “Fear Is Not My Future,” became Bri’s and Taylor’s song as they put their ultimate hope not in Bri getting better (she did), but in something way more sure.

Late last week Perry was sharing with his son, “It would be awesome to see God do a biblical-sized miracle to encourage my faith.” Over the weekend he didn’t get that, but he got what he needed, what each of us needs when our faith wanes.

  • “I Follow Jesus, Why Am I Not Changing?”
    Mar 7 2025

Perry says: “I think we have a LOT of religious ideas about Christianity. Like ‘Try harder to be a good Christian,’ or ‘Beat yourself up if you fail,’ or ‘I must not be a Christian cause I’m not changing.’ “ Maybe these ideas are why we’re not able to change.

Do the words you speak benefit those who hear them? Words are powerful! Shawna was made aware of how her words had been used to tear others down instead of lifting others up. It was a reminder to speak life!

As a Jesus follower there are good works that God has prepared for you to do. God has kingdom dreams he wants you to accomplish. Dreams that will change your world. What does it look like to go after those kingdom dreams?

If you feel like you are waiting for permission - you are not only permitted to do what Jesus did - you are commissioned to go into all the world and make disciples - learners and followers of our savior, Jesus Christ.

  • Is God Holding Out on Me?
    Mar 6 2025

On her journey of decluttering Shawna is getting rid of things she once thought would make her happy. And she’s realizing that she’s been believing the lie that God won’t take care of her, that she must take care of herself, and ultimately that age old lie that God is holding out on her.

Perry admits, “If you knew everything about me you might not want to listen to me.” The first time Perry heard someone else say that was from singer-songwriter Brandon Heath. It made such an impression on Perry that he’s started admitting it. He’ll tell you why.

Shawna confesses her struggle with greed to financial advisor, Rob West, which opens a conversation about everything ultimately belonging to God. We have stewardship responsibilities, not household rights. If everything belongs to Him, shouldn’t we make financial decisions based on what pleases God rather than what we want?

When we love someone we can’t help but celebrate them! Like Shawna’s son Dray for his sister at her concert, and Perry’s dad at his basketball games in high school. And then there’s what comes out of us for Jesus!

If you follow God, will where will He lead you? Will He keep you safe?

Shawna shares the answer directly from Psalm 23. And Perry shares why his favorite part of Psalm 23 is: “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.”

  • “I Will Take This Secret to My Grave”
    Mar 5 2025

Can you keep a secret? Maybe you already are. If there is something in your past that just seems to dark, too painful to say out loud, and you are carrying it all on your own…you are not alone.

Laura Lynn Hughes and Arica M. Henry, coauthors of Redemptive Love: A Journey of Restoration after Abortion, know the pain and loss of a secret abortion. They also know the healing and the freedom found in walking with God and others in truth and love.

The emotions and spiritual effects of abortion – guilt, anger, grief, and regret- can linger for a lifetime if left unaddressed. But they do not get the last word in your story – God does. With arms wide open, He is ready to restore you to true freedom.

Also, in this episode…Ever find yourself at a crossroads, seeking wisdom you don’t have for your life? Shawna was so angry and she cried out for God to show her what to do but she heard nothing. How God showed up in that moment wasn’t at all what she expected but it reminded her that when you truly want to know God’s will, He will show you what to do.

  • “Jesus Loves You, Black Sheep” – Ben Fuller
    Mar 4 2025

Singer-songwriter, Ben Fuller, encourages us and blesses us with his bold authenticity.

Perry admits, “I’ve spent a lot of my life trying to prove that I love God.” Maybe you can relate.

Or maybe you feel like the black sheep of the family. That you’ve gone too far to receive God’s love and grace.

    Jesus loves you, black sheep!

Ben humbly shares his experience of being used by God to wrap His love around Mike Weaver(front man for Big Daddy Weave) in one of his darkest moments. Don’t underestimate the power of a hug.

Lastly, Shawna thanks Ben for his raw honesty and he turns it into an opportunity to bless and encourage Shawna & Perry. This guy has Jesus all over him.

God really loves you. Let him.

  • Fear of Grace
    Mar 3 2025

If one of the apostles wrote a letter to the church today, what would they say?

John Lynch, coauthor with Andrew Farley of Gospel Zero believes he would want us to reclaim the radical message of grace.

John and Shawna get honest about the lies we believe about God. The voices we hear in our heads that belittle us that we assume are the voice of God and the ungodly message they speak over us.

They unpack how we fear grace and identify with our old selves, as sinners, more than the new people with new hearts that we are because God lavished grace on us through His son.

And we discuss the need to get real with God. To be so honest with Him that instead of hiding we go right to Him & share everything with Him, even the uncomfortable stuff.

John says, “It’s less important that things get fixed than that nothing has to be hidden.”

Also, in today’s episode, Shawna shares a time when she just couldn’t receive the wisdom offered her by an older, wiser mother. All she could see was the moment she was in. Likewise, in the midst of our “right now” circumstances it can be challenging to live with eternity in mind.

Lastly, what keeps you from God? Lent is an opportunity to change that. To remove that which keeps you from Him and engage in things that draw you near to His heart.

  • Thinking About Leaving Christianity?
    Feb 28 2025

In a world of relativism, there is a truth outside of you and me. A truth that anchors us to reality. The Nicene Creed. It’s like holding a rope in a blinding blizzard that will help you find your way home.

In an age when Christianity has been corrupted and co-opted by cultural forces and personal agendas, pastor and theologian Glenn Packiam shows how an ancient Creed can save the modern church—and might just save your faith.

The Church today has lost its way. We've pursued the wrong priorities, put our hope in personalities, and elevated popularity over spiritual maturity. And it's not just the Church that's lost; we are too.

As culture wars rage and competing voices argue, many Christians are left asking a basic question, What's a Christian, anyway? But there's hope. The church has been here before, and our spiritual ancestors crafted a powerful resource to help us find our way: the Nicene Creed.

Glenn joins Perry and Shawna for a conversation on the relevance and impact the Nicene Creed has for Christianity today.
