  • Rad Dad Grand Prize Winner: Michael!
    Jun 13 2025
Father's Day is a chance to honor the dads who are with us now, and to honor the ones who have graduated to Heaven.

Here is a note from our grand prize winner:

My daddy was really special. He was a founding member of Disney Studios. I had some wonderful moments with him when he would actually ask me about my dreams as a little boy and now as an adult I can appreciate his interest not only personally but in his professional capacity. He passed away when I was 7 years old but I appreciate the things that I can learn about him and the things that he taught me while he was with me and also it is fun to think that he had an impact on many people's childhood he also was an animator on Scooby-Doo.

Thank you to our friends at Mark’s Commercial (Abbotsford & Maple Ridge) and Walton Beverage for helping us celebrate the Rad Dads in our life with a Blackstone Griddle kit.

  • Brant Hansen on a Listener's Reminder About Fatherhood
    Jun 10 2025
So, I’ve never been much of a handyman. Some guys are amazing at it, and honestly, I’ve felt a little bad at times that I’m not one of them. But today I was reminded of something important.

A listener named Heather wrote in after hearing us talk about this. She said her dad could fix anything—but that’s not what she remembers most about him. What stuck with her were the moments: him tossing her in the air when he got home from work, tickling her face with his beard, praying with her, crying with her when her mom passed, singing, washing dishes, listening. His presence, not his skillset, made him the incredible dad she remembers.

She ended her message by saying, “There are dads who can fix things, but never took the time to be there. No comparison.”

    That hit me.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re not “handy enough” or falling short in some way—just remember: being there, loving well, that’s what really counts. 🧡
