Music is everywhere—in creation, in worship, and in daily life—but how should Christians think about it? The Bible presents music as a gift from God, yet like all gifts, it can be used for good or distorted for evil. From ancient temple worship to modern church music, believers have wrestled with its role and influence. Should Christians listen to secular music? Does musical style matter? Rather than asking “Christian or secular?”, we should ask “Is this wise? Does it draw me closer to Christ?” Discernment is key, ensuring that what we hear shapes our hearts toward worship and truth.

We live in a time when the ability to read deeply is fading. Christians throughout history have cherished Scripture, copying it by hand, translating it at great risk, and even dying to make it accessible. Yet, today, constant digital distractions have rewired our minds to skim rather than absorb. The Bible demands slow, intentional reading—something many now struggle to do. If we are not careful, screens will shape us more than Scripture. But we can reclaim deep reading. By setting aside distractions, prioritizing Scripture, and immersing ourselves in God’s Word and other edifying books, we can renew our minds and grow in faith.

We live in a world consumed by entertainment, where screens dominate our time and attention. While not inherently sinful, entertainment can easily distract us from prayer, Scripture, and spiritual growth. Paul warns, “I will not be dominated by anything” (1Co 6:12). The Bible emphasizes the power of words. God created through speech, sustains through his Word, and saves through the gospel. Yet many neglect reading, even though God chose a book, not a screen, to reveal himself. Instead of mindless consumption, we should pursue wisdom, set limits, and prioritize what truly nourishes our souls—God’s Word and edifying reading.
