The Louth /Armagh border is only 4 miles North of the town I grew up in. The IRA active service unit in this area were one of the most lethal in Northern Ireland. Sniper attacks, homemade mortars, roadside bombs and attacks on mainland Britain all originated from a small farming community called South Armagh. It is said " The conventional army loses if it does not win, but the guerrilla wins if he does not lose. The culmination exercise for Green Berets takes place in the fictional country of Pineland. The Green Beret students link up with a guerrilla force and wage an unconventional war against their common enemy. This exercise is called Robin Sage
