  • The Mormon Ties of Serial Killer Israel Keyes
    Jul 22 2024

In February 2012, Israel Keyes would make the mistake that ended his right of terror after he kidnapped and murdered Samantha Koenig from Anchorage, Alaska. We've long been baffled by what makes up a serial killer, and so the question of Israel Keyes being born to Mormon Extremists helps us to understand how his parents came to raise him in such an extremist environment, rich with cults, violence, and crime. And it just might all trace back to the teaching of early Mormon leaders like Brigham Young. • The Mormon Roots of Reincarnation & Magic in the Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow Trials with Ron Yorgason
    Jul 15 2024

Lori Vallow Daybell has been convicted of the same crimes that Chad Daybell is currently on trial for: Conspiracy & First Degree Murder of JJ Vallow, Tammy Daybell & Tylee Ryan. While the mentions of multiple mortal probations, zombies, demonic possession and human sacrifice have been whispered about, it's rare that anyone has been able to explain HOW Chad and Lori justified the (alleged on Chad's account) atrocities that they did. In this episode of Mormon True Crime, Beth Magnetic & Ron Yorgason deep dive into a second installment of the Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow cases to explain how Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, really set the stage for this to happen, and how some of his predecessors fed the theology and doctrines that were used to justify this tragedy. Downloadable PDFs of the slides with links to sources will be available at MormonTrueCrime.com when it is up in the near future. If you have been the victim of assault by a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at a church sponsored activity or on church property, find out if you qualify for compensation at https://ldsabuse.justiceinnumbers.com/ - Mormon True Crime may receive financial support if your case is taken.

  • The Role of Historic Mormon Doctrine in the Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow Crimes
    Jul 8 2024

In 2019, it is alleged that Alex Cox took the lives of Charles Vallow, Tylee Ryan, JJ Vallow, and Tammy Daybell in an elaborate plan to get large sums of money from life insurance and cover up their affair... all while appearing to simply be devout members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Despite the prosecution working to drive home the point that the teaching Chad believed in were NOT related to Mormonism, Chad Daybell's attorney, John Prior, has continued to suggest that Mormonism does indeed play a bigger role in this case than the state is letting on. And while we disagree with much of John Prior's defense - Mormon True Crime has deep dived into theologies that drive the Daybell case, to help you understand what Emma Daybell Murray meant when she said her dad was a 'Traditional' or 'Fundamentalist' Mormon who looked up to Joseph Smith & Brigham Young, the polygamous prophets who founded and/or led Mormonism to thrive in Utah, Idaho, and Arizona today... the states where these crimes largely were happening. Ron Yorgason, budding Mormon Historian, joins Beth Magnetic to give context, quotes and credibility to the theory that yes - this indeed WAS a Mormon True Crime.
