Hey there, Monroe! Welcome to another edition of the Mayor's Minute, where we dive into last week's lively happenings in our vibrant town. This week was packed with everything from giggles to heartfelt goodbyes. We kicked things off with a hilarious prank for April Fool's Day, where a fake proclamation had some folks wondering if we'd really renamed Union County. It was all in good fun!
April 2nd brought Autism Awareness Day, where our Special Needs and Disabilities Committee took charge by setting up ways to keep our kiddos safe. Feeling proud of all the amazing work being done!
We also bid farewell to Chief Gilliard, who has been a keystone in our community. We're sure going to miss his steady leadership. But it wasn't all goodbyes - the Unison resource fair at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church was a bang-up success! Loved meeting so many enthusiastic community members and our bright university students.
Looking forward, we've got a city council meeting to tackle some important discussions. Oh, and the weather is just perfect, isn't it? It's a fantastic time to explore downtown, support local shops, and soak up the Monroe charm.
Catch you next week for more town highlights, and don't forget to join the conversation online! Stay Monroe strong!
