  • Matt DeAngelis TALKS ‘Swept Away,’ ‘Waitress,’ & Saloon Sessions | JTWJE Special #15
    Mar 15 2025
It is a privilege to welcome actor Matt DeAngelis as a guest for a special edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Matt grew up on showtunes and Boston sports. Matt studied theatre at the University of Southern Maine and The Boston Conservatory before heading down Route 95 to NYC in 2004. In June 2009, Matt got the call to make his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning production of HAIR with Tony Award winner Diane Paulus at the helm. Matt continued with that production “Across the Atlantic Sea” to The West End in the role of “Woof” and then launched the first national US Tour of HAIR and was seen back on Broadway in the “Summer of Love” revival of HAIR.Following his time with the hippies, Matt launched the 1st National tour of Green Day’s AMERICAN IDIOT as the “Representative from Jingletown”. Matt’s cross-country adventures continued in 2014 with the first national tour of ONCE, where he played “Svec” and five instruments. Over the last five years, Matt has been a veteran of almost 2,000 performances. Thankfully, Matt returned home to Broadway (again with Diane Paulus) in the hit musical WAITRESS, where he starred opposite Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller, two-time Grammy winner Jason Mraz, and seven-time Grammy nominee, and the show’s composer, Sara Bareilles. He then toured the country with the WAITRESS National Tour as Earl opposite his real life wife, Christine Dwyer, as Jenna. Upon returning from the road Matt was a part of developing the World Premiere of The Secret Life of Bees at The Atlantic Theatre Company, directed by TONY winner Sam Gold. He also appeared in Orpheus Descending at Theatre for a New Audience.Matt DeAngelis made many performance appearances on television with these multiple shows, including Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. Matt is also seen on Person of Interest, Madam Secretary, Marvel’s Daredevil, EVIL, For Life, Chicago PD, FBI, and Waitress starring Sara Bareilles. Matt lives with his beautiful wife, fellow performer (and Bostonian) Christine Dwyer, and their Boston Terrier “Chowdah". Matt and Christine also co-own THE WORKING STUDIO, a music theatre and acting studio dedicated to unlocking people’s potential and embracing individuality in the audition process. They have also launched a successful master class series, UPGRADE YOUR AUDITION, with other top industry professionals to demystify the auditioning and booking process. Matt DeAngelis also started the Saloon Sessions. The once-a-month jam session features Matt and his cast members from Swept Away as they perform a combination of Broadway, folk music, and pop tunes. DeAngelis has brought together an impressive group of performers in honor of his mother and the countless others affected by the disease. The series serves as a celebration of his mother, Janice, who passed away in 2022 from metastatic breast cancer. Janice’s love of theater and music and raises money for the millions of people affected by breast and other types of cancer. The show also welcomes special guests. For their upcoming March 16 show, Tony-nominated actor Tony Yazbeck (On The Town), Emma Pittman (The Outsiders and Back to the Future), and Stephanie Torns (Waitress and Wicked) will join the festivities at Hurley’s Saloon in New York City. Proceeds from the show will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. On this special episode of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Matt DeAngelis spoke about performing in Hair, Swept Away, and Waitress. • Marcus J. Anthony (EliteMJ) Makes His Podcasting Debut + TALKS Pokémon Next Generation | Episode #351
    Mar 9 2025
It is a privilege to welcome author and content creator Marcus J. Anthony to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. It is also an honor that he is making his podcasting debut on my platform.

Marcus J. Anthony, an upcoming author from Dublin, Ireland, published the previous version of Love of Sacrifice before rebooting it into The World of Antheric. Some who have known Marcus from school found the news of his book a surprise, as Marcus struggled through school dealing with dyslexia and social anxiety. Marcus lacked focus in his studies and would spend most of his time daydreaming about flying on dragons or waving a wand to cast a spell. Fantasy fueled Marcus's mind. However, it caused him to fall behind in school. He would be exempt from Irish language studies, which was disheartening for him not to be able to translate his countries original language. When Marcus was ten, he suffered from sleep anxiety. So, he decided to use his strong imagination to create 'movies' in his head that would help him sleep. That was when some of the characters in this novel were created. In the years that followed, the movies in his head developed and became a magical world that Marcus could not resist writing. Creative writing became his passion, and Marcus would not allow his dyslexia to stop him from achieving.

He spent most of his teenage years (staying home on weekends) writing and learning until he found his writing style. Marcus has a great love for animals and supports charities. He is vocal about the awareness of animal abuse, expressed in the story through Jenin's past experiences. Marcus has four cats: Summer, Junior, Littler, and Leia. In 2017, Marcus fell into a dark spell of generalized anxiety and depression, which delayed the release of his book. The Black Grawth came from his experience with anxiety and panic attacks. And Gaul - the Dark Lord- represented the darkness of depression. With the help of treatment, family, and meditation, Marcus found strength and happiness again and continues to write with the world around him as his inspiration.

He is also known as Elite MJ on YouTube and in the content creator community. His original story, Pokémon: The Next Generation, has gained a massive fan following. The story takes place ten years after longtime series protagonist Ash Ketchum captured the World Championship title. After a devasting Pokémon war, Johto resident Marc Masters begins his journey with his friends, Rachel and Anthony, in Kanto. As the story unfolds, Ash and Pikachu are kidnapped, and a menacing and monstrous new antagonist, MewZ, emerges from the shadows, ready to take over the world.

On this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Marcus J. Anthony spoke about how he got into storytelling, creating MewZ, and previewing what’s to come on the Pokémon: the Next Generation web series.

  • Terry Fator TALKS AGT’s Legacy & New Vegas Show on the 350th Milestone Episode!
    Mar 3 2025
A Note from Jacob: When I started this podcast in November 2019 with Reality TV commentator Brent Wolgamott as the pilot guest, I did not expect to hit episode number 350! Nor did I expect to converse with famed authors and musicians, Emmy-winning journalists, podcast hosts, Reality TV icons, a Tony-winning producer, and viral social media sensations. I want to thank all my guests who took time out of their schedule to visit the show and their media teams who trusted my platform. Finally, I want to say “Thank You” to all of you who tuned into every episode. I appreciate all of you!

It is an honor and privilege to welcome ventriloquist and entertainer Terry Fator to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast for the 350th milestone episode. Terry became a household name when he auditioned for the NBC talent competition America’s Got Talent (AGT): Season Two back in 2007, where he showcased his passion for ventriloquism that combined comedy, singing, and celebrity impressions. Thanks to his friends, such as Emma Taylor and Winston, the Impersonating Turtle, fans rallied and crowned him the show’s sophomore season winner.

Following his AGT success, Terry spent 11 years at his theatre in the Mirage Hotel and Casino, playing in front of millions before moving to the Strat Hotel and Casino for an all-new, multi-media, immersive Vegas production: Terry Fator: One Man, a Hundred Voices, a Thousand Laughs. In addition to Emma and Winston, they are joined by Elvis impersonator Maynard Thompkins, annoying neighbor Duggie Scott Walker, Vikki the Cougar, Hyphen, and a host of famous singers.

Terry started his foundation when he was not performing in Vegas or taking his show on the road. The Terry Fator Foundation’s (TFF) primary mission is to raise monies to support military service members, veterans, first responders, and their families through various nonprofit channels. The TFF aims to align itself with top-rated nonprofits and corporate partners who carry out these support missions to our men and women who serve this great country and their family members.

On our 350th episode, Terry Fator spoke about AGT’s legacy on TV and in Las Vegas, previewed his new show at the Strat, and discussed the TFF’s impact on helping first responders.

Plus, I shared some news with Terry that kickstarts Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar’s coverage of AGT’s upcoming twentieth-anniversary season.
