I Got This: The Gospel According to Peter

This is Pastor Phil Graves message that he delivered to our church when he came to interview to be our new pastor on May 11, 2025.

This message looks at the life of Peter and the moments when he tried to serve Jesus in his own strength. From stepping out on the water to swinging a sword in the garden, Peter was bold but broken. He thought he had what it took. He thought he could handle it.

Then came the failure.

But the story doesn’t end there. In John 21, Jesus meets Peter after the denial. He doesn’t shame him. He restores him. And He still calls him.

This sermon is for anyone who has ever failed, fallen short, or tried to follow Jesus by sheer willpower. It's a reminder that Jesus doesn’t give up on people. He comes looking for us, calls us by name, and says, “Follow me.”
