  • Episode 152: Tiny Habits
    Mar 7 2025
This episode is brought to you by Sal Valencia III, Financial Advisor with Edward Jones. Have you ever wished you had a healthy habit or could break an unwanted one? Do you believe that change has to be hard? As Health Geeks, we know how important healthy habits are. We’ve read James Clear’s book about habits, and now we are diving into B.J. Fogg’s book, TINY HABITS: The Small Changes that Change Everything (2020). Fogg says that information alone does NOT change a habit. This book gives us some wonderful insight and resources about the anatomy of behaviors, how to build them and how to change bad ones. If you want to make meaningful changes in your life, tune in. This book offers hope and practical strategies for transformation, not only at the individual level but with the potential to impact the world around us. In his book, JUST ONE HEART (2020), Jonathan Fisher, MD FACC, provides a broader perspective on heart health than is usually presented. He believes our emotional, spiritual, and social health strongly influences our heart health. She has written yet another book on time management and makes a convincing argument that “yes” we do need one AND that women will benefit from her perspective. Eleanor and Kristen enjoyed a studied reflection on THE PLAN: Manage your time like a lazy genius (2024), highlighting some of Adachi’s suggestions. • Episode 149: Rest
    Jan 23 2025
How does a Health Geek get confused and read the wrong book? Maybe they didn’t get enough REST? Kristen read a book called REST: 7 Types of Rest to Eliminate Burnout, Reduce Stress, and Overcome Anxiety by Allison Hay (2023). This was the book we selected to read together, but Eleanor picked up a book called REST: Why You Get More Done When You Work Less (2018) by Alex Soojung-Kim Pang. We discovered this discrepancy when we got to the podcast studio, and it turned out to be a wonderful mistake. We had fun comparing notes from these two authors’ perspectives. Both books are worth a read! Listen in and let us know if REST is a part of your routine. We would appreciate it if you would subscribe/follow the podcast to hear more about this book!
