For Wales, See Wales

  • Resumen

  • For Wales, See Wales is a podcast helping you better understand the most wonderful country on earth - Wales.

Each week we shine a light on the utterly bizarre (and often hilarious) world of Welsh politics and issues.

So many people care deeply about Cymru but very little attention is given to it by the wider UK media. This podcast aims to help fill this gap.

Guardian columnist Will Hayward along with comedians Mel Owen and Robin Morgan are here to pick apart the political scene in Wales with a combination of journalistic insight and satirical sideswipes.

For Wales, See Wales is a Hayman Media production.

  • “I find Reform quite scary” - A Welsh Tory on the pod
    May 1 2025

The pod welcomes their first ever Conservative guest. Brecon and Radnorshire MS James Evans joins the team on his birthday! What could be more fitting than a cake and Union Jack balloon.

James provides some real insights into whether his party would work with Reform, what the relationship is like with their fellow Tories in London and why he backed Liz Truss. Fair play to Mr Evans, he doesn’t hold back in his answers.

We also find out that Mel REALLY wants to hurt rugby men and everything happens for a reason (apparently).

    About FWSW

100 years ago if you had picked up the Encyclopaedia Britannica and looked up “Wales” you would have seen four words - ‘For Wales, see England.’

This implied that Wales was no different to England. Not worthy of its own description. Second fiddle. Frankly, it implied that Wales was simply less of a country.

That is why we have launched our podcast: For Wales, See Wales.

It is a weekly look at Welsh politics looking at the issues that matter to people here.

There are so many people who are passionately Welsh, who care about Wales and want to better understand what is happening here.

The more informed people are on Welsh issues, the more they are able to hold politicians and decision makers to account for the things that affect their lives.

Just as importantly, we want to have a good laugh talking and learning about the country we love.

  • Ep29: What would happen if Reform actually won in Wales?
    Apr 24 2025

Mel's back comes bearing gifts (and truth bombs) for the boys.

In today's pod the gang makes some wagers and discuss Welsh accents,

They then breakdown growing discontent within Welsh Labour with some MSs calling on the party to make some big changes.

This is followed by them exploring what it would be like in Wales if Reform were to win and whether it would actually help Nigel Farage long term.

A member of the For Wales, See Wales audience then draws their attention to a 20m high statue that is hidden in a Welsh valley.

  • Ep28: Welsh independence support is at an all time high?!
    Apr 17 2025

This week the pod (minus Mel who is off betting on the dogs) ask the question on everyone's lips - why is steel making at Port Talbot not as important to the UK Government as Scunthorpe?

Robin and Will then talk about a spike in support for Welsh independence and get very confused about the Plaid supporters who oppose it.

They also look at how Welsh Tory politicians have been charged by the police and seek to understand what Thomas the Tank would look like in hell!
