Nice comparison of course curriculum!!!
Texas Public School vs Some Church
I was actually amazed at the effort and planning that went into the church’s O.W.L. Sex Ed. course. Open discussions about sexual education at a church really surprised me!
Preaching abstinence as the only way of preventing pregnancy and contracting an STD/STI happened to be the Texas public schools outdated views on sex.
Interesting how the course curriculum was taught! Well done O.W.L.!!!

Public school sex ed vs. private sex ed curriculum
Elijah reports to his father about what he is begin taught in his public school sex education class, including what he likes and dislikes about it. Because Neal is unhappy with the information being taught, he arranges for Elijah to attend a program at a nearby church. They discuss the pros and cons of each program.
Neal and Elijah seem to have a great relationship and are very open with each other, and I think that makes this podcast very interesting and easy to listen to.
I was surprised to find that a church offers the type of progressive and open sex ed program that Elijah ends up taking at the church-I've personally never heard of this happening and I'm sure that I would have to hunt for something like this where I live. I'm thrilled that Neal sought more information for his son when he wasn't happy with what Elijah was being offered-I support this wholeheartedly as I homeschool my middle and high schoolers. I was quite shocked with what Elijah reported from his public school class, but I can't speak to the sex ed that is offered around here because we are not a part of the public or private school system.

Safety is important!
Getting a full sex Ed course outside of school was a great idea. Sad to hear that in the school sex Ed classes, students can’t discuss things openly or ask questions. That is essential for a subject that is taboo to speak about in public. How are they going to get their questions answered? Experimenting under the bleachers? While I do think that abstinence is the best way to go (and the only 100% method of birth control), kids should also be taught about the wonders of their body, and how to use what is available to safely have sex if they choose to do so. After all, condoms are 98% effective at preventing pregnancy. Sec Ed should also include information about the menstrual cycle, peak fertility times, and all types of birth control.

Excellent Insight!
This course, O.W.L. should spread to all schools. I appreciate that the insight was provided from a student.

Eye Opening
It is appalling to hear what is taught and what is NOT taught in our schools. This show brings to light the gross inadequacies of our public school system.
It is a quick and easy program that can really enlighten and entertain us all
