Very Informative and well told

I just love this story which I knew nothing about before I listened to this. All Female African worriors who could step up to the might that was the Roman empire is downright amazing.

unfortunately I fall into that category just plain ignorant when it comes to world history to this detail. I love and enjoy the works by Brenda Greer and I'm privileged to be able to hear them in such high quality and production. I wish more people were exposed to this kind of information

Fell in love with the Queens!

I’ve listened to all the episodes twice at least, but this episode I’ve now heard 3 times and going on a fourth. It’s my favorite episode because of these amazing warriors that were a matriarchal society and respected like royalty both diplomatically and locally. I have an amazing vision of these women because of Bonnie’s remarkable descriptions. Although highly unlikely, I’m curios if this ancient tribe was the inspiration for where Wonder Woman came from.

Learning About Our True History

I truly have enjoyed listening to this series of Podcasts on our true African History. Being an American, as a child growing up, we were not taught this important facts about our heritage and I am looking forward to learning more. extremely valuable information.

An essential element of classical history

I can't emphasize enough the importance to current thinking of one of the themes in this podcast. Envision a time when people were identified according to their place of origin. They were Greeks, Nubians, Romans, Egyptians, Hebrews, Britons. Skin color was irrelevant. Slaves were people the Romans had conquered; they were of all nationalities and colors. It was a completely different way of seeing people from the one that exists in America where huge swathes of the country still see Black people as "other."

Greer explores the continuity of Black history. What's surprising is that much of the research is so recent instead of being part of research trends that have gone on for a century or more. While the story of a Kushite queen who held off the Roman Empire is exciting, what I find to be more important are the stories of ordinary Black people who lived as paid workers, scholars, musicians, and other experts who mixed freely with European populations. And then came the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, which brought more Dark Age than Age of Enlightenment.

Missed a lot more culture in Africa

Again the reading was painful.
Disappointing that she is not to mention a whole lot of other cultures in Africa which were amazing, just look at Wikipedia.
