Let’s study ourselves more than we study our favorite celebrity

If what you really want is credit for being spiritual or simply not to feel crazy for your calling, just say that. You don’t have to hijack history or hold somebody hostage as proof of your path.

It bothers me to see big platforms prosper in privilege. They don’t use their presence to heal people. They don’t use their privilege to solve problems. They don’t have to be mindful to make money like we do. They don’t have to acknowledge society to expand like we do.

Protest without practicality is performative. The privileged have to stop placing the pressure of progress on the most oppressed. Survival is sacred. Stop shaming people who can’t boycott Babylon while battling bills.

Black and brown people can’t afford to be fully off of the grid. Y’all want poor people to be burdened with ethical living while living paycheck to paycheck. Those with the most privilege need to put in the most effort. We can’t navigate injustice with unrealistic expectations. Stop getting upset with people for choosing survival over symbolism. Everybody cannot afford your revolution.

Mermaids are often maternal spiritual figures. They are fertility spirits. They are the spirits people petition to get pregnant with babies and businesses. So modern day mermaids are often very protective over children. We are not the people who mind our business when we see abuse taking place.
