Acerca de esta escucha
Friday, June 13th: In this conversation, John and Mariza explore the themes of faith, community, and the transformative power of the Holy Spirit as depicted in Acts Chapter 2. They discuss the significance of Pentecost, Peter's sermon, and the early church's formation, emphasizing the importance of community and personal experiences in faith. The dialogue reflects on the nature of the church, the role of the Holy Spirit, and the call to live out one's faith in a communal context.
Acts 2—the unforgettable day when the Holy Spirit descended like wind and fire, and the church was born. Gathered in prayer on the day of Pentecost, the disciples are filled with the Spirit and begin to speak in languages they never learned. Jews from every nation hear the gospel in their own tongue. Peter preaches a powerful message, pointing to Jesus as the crucified and risen Messiah. The crowd is cut to the heart, and 3,000 people repent, believe, and are baptized. A new community forms—devoted to teaching, prayer, fellowship, generosity, and unity. Acts 2 shows us that the church is not a building but a Spirit-filled people on mission. Pentecost is not just an event in the past—it’s the launch of a movement we’re still part of. This episode calls us to live as witnesses, walk in the Spirit, and build communities that reflect the love and power of Jesus.
