39: Earthquakes, Floods, and Fascism PLUS We Ask: Do You Even Need to Watch the News?

  • Resumen

  • First things first! The Australian election is coming up soon and this is your CRITICAL reminder to check your enrolment with the Australian Electoral Commision. If you’ve moved in the past three years you gotta re-enrol so you can vote in the correct electorate for where you live. It takes literally a minute and you can do it online with the AEC.

Second of all, we recorded again! This week we talk about the devastating earthquake that struck Burma & Thailand, noting the difficulties Burma’s facing in recovery efforts. Trump comes up, as does a little yap about the election—and culturally speaking we’re all over Chappell Roan, White Lotus, and Paige and Craig.

Plus, today’s deep dive is into the raging debate between new and traditional media, and what you’re even meant to do to have a varied media diet.

💖 We hope you love Episode 6 of the podcast for burnt out girlies trying to stay Broadly Relevant, hosted by your favourite personality hires, Simran Pasricha & Ryan Hamilton. Stay tuned for new episodes every Monday at 6PM (AEDT)

💛 Broadly Relevant is recorded on the land of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nations, and we met and grew up together on the land of the Kombumerri people, part of the Yugambeh Language Group. We acknowledge and pay our respects to Yugambeh and Kulin elders past and present, and extend that respect to first nations listeners. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
