  • April 15, 1865. President Lincoln is dead and the country in turmoil. Secretary of War Edwin Stanton takes control, determined to bring the assassin to justice—but the hunt for John Wilkes Booth isn’t all that grips Stanton. Lincoln’s successor, Vice President Andrew Johnson, is likely to bend to southern interests and undo the very progress for which Lincoln died. Edwin Stanton must employ every bit of political wile he can muster to secure the future of the freed slaves, and the nation. Consumed by his conviction, Stanton will betray his friends, his honor, and the very constitution he is sworn to protect, all to steer the country towards justice.

Literally better than Netflix

This is the most entertaining, educational, and mind blowing thing I've ever heard on "radio." It reminds me of the old radio shows of the forties, but far better. I have told everyone I know about this podcast. Thank you so much for producing it and please keep them coming!

Love it!

Entertaining and informative. I love how they incorporate text from actual historical documents into their script. I also like the way, in the "Inside the..." episodes, they break down what is straight from history and what was artistic license.

The voice actors were top notch.

This podcast, by far, is in the top five of my favorite podcasts. The voice actors were phenomenal. The writing, the delivery of the lines, and the background sounds (like the door creaks, the footsteps on hardwood, etc.) were so well executed that I felt like I was in the same room as these events were portrayed.

Bringing history alive

I am a huge history buff, but find most podcast unfollowable because they lack the drama, the charisma and the inability to keep my interest ( ADHD ) so to find this amazing podcast is amazing I wished they all could be this good. Just so well done and the inside stories just make it even better, love learning the I side tricks and tips. Bravo Bravo 👏👏

The only thing like it!

This series is hands down the greatest piece of art I have ever had the honor of discovering. I listened to season 1 for the first time quite some time ago but find myself always coming back to it. It is captivating, the drama feels grounded in reality, and the voice acting is above anything I have ever heard. The sound engineering is top notch and the soundtrack is beautiful. GIVE IT A LISTEN! It is absolutely worth it.
