For 200 years, I have promenaded down the streets and avenues of New Orleans. Born and long since dead, I received the Cadeau de Sang Illecebrous at the tender age of 16 in the year 1820, and ever since that lurid moment, I, Zylphia Lynum, have shadowed the Crescent City, hunting prey as a vampire.
That life is no more, whether I like it or not. Our Monarchs, for whom I would do anything, have created and promoted a time of peace among the witches, voodoo practitioners, ghosts, and now the half-fae that have entered our hallowed city.
Now, some half-fae are mysteriously missing, and the Seelie Queen of faeries has threatened to wage war on the vampires of New Orleans. With my King and Queen on their honeymoon, it’s up to me to assuage the faeries and protect my city all while dealing with a captivating half-fae man who turned up in Claret right before the killings began to occur. I have no time for a tryst and certainly no need for anything deeper, but he is wrapped into every aspect of our faery drama, and his ocean blue eyes haunt my every step.

Zylphia's Story
This is Zylphia's story and she is a very old vamp living in New Orleans. But her old ways are being disrupted by faeries. Some faeries are disappearing and that isn't good especially when Zylphia is the one left in charge when her vampire king and queen go on their honeymoon.
If you thought that author Victoria Clapton would leave her binding world behind you would be very wrong. This is the same wonderful world we have grown to love, but told from another Vampires view, and not just any vampire but one of the creepy twins. This is a wonderful book with loads of action and heaping bowl of jambalaya from Gumbo gris gris. If you like audio books this one will not disappoint as narrator Matthew Lents transforms you into their world and you get to live there for a while. So which ever form you like best this is a great book and I can not wait for more.

an entrancing listen
Intrigue, deceit , multilayered storyline, and finally Zylphia finds her forever love. She was such an interesting character and a huge contrast to the much loved Sybella Rose. They both have a special place in my heart now. Least we forget to mention that patient, sweet, hot, fairy guy!!!! Holy moly!!! Great world building as always. I enjoyed getting to know Zyl's backstory and a bit about her msm too. Looking forward to more. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.
