Acerca de esta escucha
As the founder of Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE), Magda Gerber has spent decades helping new mothers and fathers give their children the best possible start in life. Her successful parenting approach harnesses the power of this basic fact: Your baby is unique and will grow in confidence if allowed to develop at his or her own pace. The key to successful parenting is learning to observe your child and to trust him or her to be an initiator, an explorer, a self-learner with an individual style of problem solving and mastery.
Now you can discover the acclaimed RIE approach. This practical and enlightening guide will help you:
- Develop your own observational skills
- Learn when to intervene with your baby and when not to
- Find ways to connect with your baby through daily caregiving routines such as feeding, diapering, and bathing
- Effectively handle common problems such as crying, discipline, sleep issues, toilet training, and much more.

Historia
One basic need all children have, educator Alfie Kohn argues, is to be loved unconditionally, to know that they will be accepted even if they screw up or fall short. Yet conventional approaches to parenting such as punishments (including "time outs"), rewards (including positive reinforcement), and other forms of control teach children that they are loved only when they please us or impress us. Kohn cites a body of powerful and largely unknown research detailing the damage caused by leading children to believe they must earn our approval.

good info but too much of a sales pitch throughout
Good info but too much of a sales pitch throughout. I would recommend this book to friends

So glad I listened to this!
This approach feels good to my soul! My baby is 4 months old, and while I wish I had read this sooner, I’m so glad I have this mindset and toolbox now. Just in the couple of days that I’ve been listening to this book, I feel like a better parent already. My experience with my baby was already a happy one, but now I feel even more confident and have changed the way i do some things. For example, when I started giving her more free time on her back to roll around and explore instead of strapping her into seats, I knew right away that this way was better. I used to think it would be neglectful to leave her on her back in a playpen while I did the dishes, but I see that she is very happy playing on her own and experimenting with rolling, and it’s better for her motor development. Plus, I can get something done! I recommend this book to all parents!

Old, but still fantastic
I was introduced to RIE parenting by the Janet Lansbury podcast and decided to dive a bit deeper by listening to the OG - Magda Gerber. I was not disappointed at all.
I felt like I finally understood the whole philosophy and I'm excited with how much it has shifted my parenting already.
Like with all parenting advice books, I will take the parts I like and leave what doesn't suit my family.

Wonderful practical guidance on teaching and disciplining for babies!
I liked this book very much. It not only gives you theories but also gives you real life examples of children's behavior and how to deal with it in the best of ways. I would recommend it it to anyone looking for guidance on how to teach and discipline their kids.

Informative
I enjoyed this book. I think the best thing I took back was that we aren't supposed to consistently put our child on a pedestal and tell them how they can do and accomplish anything, or go on and on about how wonderful they are (in front of them anyway). It is educating them that with hard work and effort, you can achieve great things and succeed in many areas. And to remind your child when you do praise them that their accomplishment was indeed the result of hard work!
Also I enjoyed hearing about interacting with your child and how to appropriately speak with and to them.

Great Principles for Parenting
So much useful information for raising a decent human being. There is a very small part of the book that touches on sleep training, which I don’t necessarily agree with, but the rest of the information was great. Narration was good too. I would definitely recommend this book.
