Acerca de esta escucha
Part pop-science, part self-help, Your Day. Your Way. is a friendly, funny, fact-based guide to changing how you make decisions in order to live a better - maybe even your best - life.
We make, and worry about, a thousand big and little decisions during our waking hours. And for most of us, these decisions are made (after a lot of hemming and hawing), based on concerns or beliefs about our world that...well...simply aren't true. These misperceptions impact day-to-day decisions and stress us out unnecessarily - and we all have enough stress as it is. Tim Caulfield seeks to provide the antidote to this analysis paralysis, teaching listeners - through sound science and silly stories - that reevaluating their decision-making processes can lead to lives that are both more fulfilling and more exciting.
Your Day. Your Way. unfolds like a typical day - from the first buzz of the alarm clock all the way to bedtime. As the clock moves forward, Caulfield tackles topics associated with that particular time of day and addresses them through science-informed responses about health, offering listeners a way to cut through the noise and have healthier and happier lives in the age of anxiety. Caulfield highlights what science says we should be worried about and how we can de-stress and live a healthy lifestyle.
Rather than burying you in the facts, or listing out a bunch of specific things you should or should not be doing, Caulfield uses wit, humor, and a wide variety of examples to encourage listeners to reevaluate how they make all of those decisions - so that they can live in a way that truly works for them.

A conventional wisdom has emerged since the election of Donald Trump in 2016 that new technologies and their manipulation by foreign actors played a decisive role in his victory and are responsible for the sense of a "post-truth" moment in which disinformation and propaganda thrives. Network Propaganda challenges that received wisdom through the most comprehensive study yet published on media coverage of American presidential politics from the start of the election cycle in April 2015 to the one-year anniversary of the Trump presidency.

Have you ever found yourself wondering “Why do I want more than I have?” Michael Easter, author of The Comfort Crisis and one of the world’s leading experts on behavior change, shows that the problem isn’t you. The problem is your scarcity mindset, left over from our ancient ancestors. They had to constantly seek and consume to survive because vital survival tools like food, material goods, information, and power were scarce and hard to find. But with our modern ability to easily fulfill our ancient desire for more, our hardwired “scarcity brain” is now backfiring.

Levitt and co-author Stephen J. Dubner show that economics is, at root, the study of incentives: how people get what they want, or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing. In Freakonomics, they explore the hidden side of...well, everything. The inner working of a crack gang...the truth about real-estate agents...the secrets of the Klu Klux Klan. What unites all these stories is a belief that the modern world is even more intriguing than we think. All it takes is a new way of looking, and Freakonomics will redefine the way we view the modern world.

We spend a shocking 43 percent of our day doing things without thinking about them. That means that almost half of our actions aren’t conscious choices, but the result of our non-conscious mind nudging our body to act along learned behaviors. How we respond to the people around us; the way we conduct ourselves in a meeting; what we buy; when and how we exercise, eat, and drink - a truly remarkable number of things we do every day, regardless of their complexity, operate outside of our awareness.

As Dr. Michael Breus proves in The Power of When, working with your body's inner clock for maximum health, happiness, and productivity is easy, exciting, and fun.

According to the CDC, 49.1 percent of adults in the USA tried to lose weight within the last 12 months. There’s so much fluff around offering amazing results that will only disappoint you and make you feel inadequate when they don’t work. That’s why this book is based on what the scientific research says. It turns out there is a lot of research on what works, whether you are trying to lose weight, reduce your obsession with food and weight, or maintain the weight you have lost.

It's difficult to ask anybody "how are you?" without hearing the word "busy" somewhere in their response. We feel overwhelmed by busyness because of the demands on our time: our inboxes and our to-do lists are bulging, a huge amount of people expect things from us and our organisations are trying to do more with fewer people. But it doesn't have to be that way. In reality, busyness isn't essential. Yes, there is a lot to do, but believing you're always busy because you have so much to do is both false and unhelpful.

Reseñas de la Crítica
"Perhaps you, like me, find yourself bewildered by conflicting claims about everything from the food you should eat, to the 'five second rule' if that food falls on the floor, to whether public toilet seats pass along terrifying diseases. Tim Caulfield masterfully, and humorously, walks you through all of the things you're likely to encounter in a typical day and provides such much needed sanity in a world of claims run amok. It also serves as an introduction to critical thinking for those who don't know how to approach such questions, enabling all of us to make better sense of any new nonsense that comes forward. I devoured it (and it didn't even fall on the floor)." (Daniel Levitin, author of Successful Aging and The Organized Mind)
"In Your Day, Your Way Tim Caulfield gives us an entertaining guide to some of the most entrenched as well as the more recent wellness fads. No one understands the impact of pop culture on health communication better than Caulfield, who is an expert in the marketing of health misinformation and disinformation. He is an entertaining science communicator who understands that fear is a big driver of our headline-driven 24/7 news cycle. Every day we are met with headlines-which often contradict the ones from the previous week-as to how we should be living our lives.Caulfield tackles this confusing clickbait by walking the reader through an imaginary day. His style of communication is effective and easy to understand. And I learned a lot! Read this book-it will vaccinate you against misinformation!" (Dr. Jen Gunter, renowned gynecologist and author of The Vagina Bible)

Synopsis of studies
Well reasoned presentation of studies applicable to everyday life and their strengths and faults. Unfortunately most of the results and much of the analysis I have heard before, so if you read a lot of this type of book or listen to a lot of podcasts like Freakonomics and You are not so Smart there will be little that is new to you. For me it was just that riding a bike in traffic is much less dangerous than one would think.
The author did a great interview on the SGEM (Skeptics Guide to Emergency Medicine).
