After enjoying Wizard People for many years I was excited to hear about Brad Neely’s latest book about Ulysses S. Grant. Jokes aside and voice aside, Neely invites you into this world with more character, more environment and more heart. It is certainly funny, and also hugely beautiful.

A must read for fans of Grant and Neely alike

20 years ago, Brad Neely unleashed upon the Earth a masterpiece of comedy, storytelling, philosophy and silliness that was "Wizard People, Dear Reader". Since then, I have longed for more similar content but nothing has scratched the itch like this book. Fans of "China, Il", "Harg Nalling", "Professor Bros", etc. may be befuddled by the narrator's voice but the hilarity and unexpected insightfulness is one and the same. I can't recommend this book to everyone, it would cause my grandmother to termor anxiously in her bloomers, but those familar with any of Brad Neely's work will find this is yet another link in his unbroken chain of comedic brilliance. My only complaint is that it has an ending.

I was fully expecting a Neely voice, perhaps one of the professor brothers (and at times the voice he uses seems like it slips into Frank) but it took me a minute to get into the rickety old historian thing he was doing.

Are you ready for the greatest biography of any person, living or dead? Ulysses Grant is giving a standing ovation from his grave over this one.

If you’re a fan of Neely’s work; this is his magnum opus to date

This guy’s work is so important to me, it’s indescribable. His words and his perspective are like like no other media / art I can ingest anywhere. I adored every second of this book for the following reasons; it’s funny as hell, it’s descriptive as hell, it captures some kind of universal human experience, it’s morally GOOD (and makes you remember why that’s important and not in a snobby self righteous way), and it enlightened me on people and things that I didn’t previously know enough about (even if there were slight artistic liberties taken, which can be considered part of the genre and thus totally excusable and for me was part of the charm).

I literally started crying in the last few minutes of this book because I was so absolutely gutted it was coming to an end. I would give anything for this guy to keep churning out work like this, seriously, it’s nourishment for the soul.

Anyways it’s damn good so just buy the stinkin thing and listen for yourself already

Dear Lord this is amazing

I have been a Brad Neely fan since my Freshman year in College a fragile young hopeful future historian who found “George Washington” I followed all his works. Enjoy the professor brothers china il. So when I checked his channel after years of inactivity to find this I bought the book immediately. Then Hurricane and much yard work and I thought man I have audible, I wonder if he did a wizard people with this book, oh he did, oh its very funny Its making me laugh hard and I am working a chainsaw and the audio comes in my blue tooth ear protectors maybe this is a bad idea but I do not want to stop.
Yes get it, its great for Fans, historians appreciators or arts and entertainment. This is Gonzo

I would pay 500 dollars for a copy of a Brad Neely book written in the same voice about Ken Griffey Jr.
