Acerca de esta escucha

An unfiltered and outrageously funny commentary on the threats to free speech in America from the legendary comedian, actor, and Emmy-nominated SNL writer.

Rob Schneider’s childhood in the San Francisco Bay area with parents of mixed-race backgrounds shaped his view of the world: that America affords the greatest opportunity for peoples from all nations and all faiths. But today, in this world gone mad, free speech is under attack. And Schneider keeps finding himself in controversy for questioning what woke ideology is doing to our great nation.

Still, he refuses to be censored. In his debut book, Schneider will make you laugh out loud as he tells his unique story of a Hollywood-comedian-turned-vocal-advocate for open dialogue. He takes listeners along for a ride through his life in show business (where he’s starred in 27 movies with his friend Adam Sandler), shares stories from the glory days of Saturday Night Live, and makes a persuasive case for fearlessness in speech and pushing the boundaries in comedy. Comedians matter because they have a unique position in society to stand up against tyranny. In this book, Schneider shares never-before-told personal stories about Chris Farley, Norm Macdonald, Christopher Walken, Dana Carvey, and Martin Landau, and other comedy legends.

You Can Do It! is part celeb memoir, part warning, and part siren call to action. It was said during the days of Covid the difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth was about six months. Influenced by his own experiences in Hollywood, Schneider illustrates his points about free expression with provocative commentary on things you aren't suppose to question, like identity politics, Covid tyranny, "global boiling," medical freedoms and more. Schneider refuses to believe he’s dangerous for saying what he thinks. In fact, the opposite is true—it’s dangerous to not question the narrative. It’s dangerous to not exercise your free speech.

That’s what Rob Schneider’s doing. And as this humorous, shocking, irreverent but insightful book shows listeners, you can do it too.

Informative and Funny

I always liked Rib Schneider’s comedy. He always makes me laugh. Good Comedians have the knowledge of current events that make you think as well as laugh. This book did both! I highly recommend. Well done!

Laugh but stay skeptical

This was a highly entertaining book about free speech that careened into conspiracy theories by the end. Rob Schneider does a wonderful job with the narratioscamdemicriting is humorous on its own but it gets better when he does the voices. He makes a lot of excellent points about free speech - how individuals and organizations censoring themselves not only prevents ideas from being disseminated but destroys trust in institutions like the media and government. Then he segues into talking about vaccines and the “scamdemic” where he raises a lot of interesting points of dubious accuracy.

E.g., he stated measles had already gone down before the vaccine was even released - you can find graphs by year online that show the measles rate was still fairly high until a few years after the vaccine was released in 1963. He also said the flu death rate in 2020 was suspiciously low - implying they were inflating the COVID death rate with deaths from the flu. The flu death rate was lower than usual - only 5k as opposed to the more common 25k to 50k - but the COVID death rate in 2020 was 350k. Even if they padded the COVID death rate with the flu deaths that’s not accounting for it all. He questioned why the CDC seemed to be “padding” their numbers with deaths associated with other conditions caused by COVID, such as pneumonia. That’s like claiming someone didn’t die of a machete accident because their cause of death said “massive blood loss” instead of “machete attack” even if machete wounds were mentioned elsewhere. I could go on but hopefully you see my point. [I listened to the audiobook and perhaps there were copious citations for these claims in the paperback, but without them I’m skeptical.]

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the book quite a bit and I did learn from it, including being introduced to Uri Berliner’s article about what went wrong with NPR. I support Mr. Schneider’s freedom to have (and share) his beliefs. I also encourage everyone to be a critical listener and do your own research before drawing any conclusions. We’re living in a society where mainstream media doesn’t have the courage to investigate important stories or the integrity to admit when they erred which means there’s no legitimate source to interrogate the government when they do something shady. It is very easy for very smart people to get sucked into these conspiracy theories. The problem is compounded when some of those “conspiracies” turn out to be totally true. Which ones do you believe?

As Carl Sagan once said, “It pays to keep an open mind, but not so open your brains fall out.”

It's comedy like the old days

Very entertaining. politically incorrect? maybe for some but not for me. Rob has common sense that isn't so common these days.

Great job

An excellent book describing exactly what's happening to our society. A call to arms against the woke insanity that has infected the nation and is destroying us from within. Great job Mr. Rob.

Thought provoking, inspiring, & hilarious all in one

By far the best book I’ve ever listened to on freedom of speech! So inspiring, & such a great story teller & entertainer. Way to go Rob! Keep standing up for what you believe in your heart is right! Hopefully this book will inspire others to not be afraid & do the same with whatever they are passionate about in life.

Exposed the recent failure of journalists, but also questioned some curious decisions made by the powerful, of the past.

Enjoyed Schneider’s enthusiasm and commitment. Educational, humorous, and thought provoking. Watch his Fox stand-up. Hope to see him in the movies.
