Acerca de esta escucha

Our past does not simply disappear. The painful history of our ancestors and their rich cultural wisdom intertwine within us to create the patterns of our future. Even when past trauma remains unspoken or has long been forgotten, it becomes part of us and our children—a legacy of both strength and woundedness that shapes our lives.

In this book, Tirzah Firestone brings to life the profound impact of protracted historical trauma through the compelling narratives of Israeli terror victims, Holocaust survivors, and those whose lives were marred by racial persecution and displacement. The tragic story of Firestone's own family lays the groundwork for these revealing testimonies of recovery, forgiveness, and moral leadership.

Throughout, Firestone interweaves their voices with neuroscientific and psychological findings, as well as relevant and inspiring Jewish teachings. Seven principles emerge from these wise narratives—powerful prescriptive tools that speak to anyone dealing with the effects of past injury. At the broadest level, these principles are directives for staying morally awake in a world rife with terror.

Profound and beautifully written

This author did an exceptional job incorporating trauma, history, culture and values into a healing journey through a familiar history. All people should read this and they may better understand the complexity of the trauma and history in the Middle East. I pray that the parents circle will continue on and become a reality.

Insightfull and touching

First of all I love books that are narrated by author. I can feel and understand the author Firestone, and her meaning.
I am Israeli jew, from family of holocaust survivors, and sepharadi origin also.
So I could relate very much to much of what is said. IDF army traumas, Israeli trauma, holocaust and the sepharadi .
The author has experience with all of the above, which is exceptional.
Very touching and shedding light on our personal and collective trauma.
It was written pretty recently, but now we have the new traumas of 7.10.23 and subsequent war.
So in a sense it is sad we had to gone through all this, But then such heartful woman as the author, who also gives incredible example in her personal life and development. This gives much inspiration.
This is a must book in my opinion to every jew interested in our trauma.

Generational trauma

I love this book. It was well written with great stories to drive the point. It really told from a place of love and reason where there was none. I learn a lot about the Jewish trauma culture.
