Haunted me for years

He has this really droll, deadpan narration that draws you in.

I first heard this audiobook on cassette at a local library. Checked it out several times. Got the audible version and was transported back. So haunting, mysterious, funny, down-to-earth. I've listened to it more than 8 times, and it makes me cry every time.
