So does the attraction.

Leonidas isn’t thrilled with the young princess’s nurse. The woman seems to have more involvement than a nurse should have, but she’s brilliant at pretending to be submissive when she’s really doing exactly what she wants to do. Leonidas is used to men obeying his commands without question, but the fair-haired Frenchwoman clearly never got that memo. Leonidas is so busy being irritated with her that he doesn’t even realize when he’s fallen in love with her.

That brings an entirely new set of problems.

English accent in telling the story. Just the right length of the story. Best I have read by Kathryn

Entertaining from beginning to end!

With this story we see behind the scenes of what was happening with the young queen Philippa who is married to Edward III. She is being hidden and protected by Edward de Wolfe and her personal guard Christelle de Lorrain. Philippa is also carrying the next heir to the English thrown as she and Edward are expecting their first child. Christelle is Black Church trained and turns out to be a spy planted into the queen's life. She has been planted there by her father who is loyal to the French crown. Edward de Wolfe and Tate Crewys de Lara have separated the young couple to keep them safe from Edward III's mother Isabella and her lover Roger Mortimer.

Christelle is beautiful but does not carry herself like most ladies. She has been treated more as a male because her father wanted a son, and she was trained to flight as a knight. She has come to love the young queen and Edward de Wolfe and therefore her loyalties have changed. She wants to remain with the queen and have a life of love with de Wolfe, but she is uncovered as a spy before she is able to make that declaration. Edward de Wolfe feels betrayed and used when this comes to light and is devastated because he has fallen in love with a trader. He doesn't give Christelle the chance to explain her true feelings, and things soon come to a head.

There are some nail-biting moments and very few actual battle moments in this book, (personally, I live for the battles), but there is enough to keep you entertained until the conclusion. Like all the other books in Le Veque's arsenal we get our payoff of a HEA. I really enjoyed seeing both sides of what happened with the king and queen in their different situations and found that very interesting. If you want the other side to this story you should listen to Dragon Blade. All in all, this was another excellent mid evil story and so worth the credit.

Another great listen from Kathryn! I have all her Audible books. I can hardly wait for the next one.

Delightful!

Kathryn has written a delightful piece for me to enjoy. It was stocked full of emotions. I woke up my hubby from his nap with my laughter when they were in his cottage. I have to admit, I had to cry and smile listening to Brad Wills narrative of it. He is amazing and a true professional actor who deserves more stars than I was allowed to give. Kathryn and Brad are both amazing and talented and deserve thousands of awards! I loved it!!
