Unfortunately for him, the independent lady he has fallen in love with is sensible. She knows and loves him for what he is, not what he pretends to be and until he has some security of his own, she will never risk hers by marrying him.

Miss Darcy is out?

Interesting book, but based on the novel much of it makes little sense, especially pertaining to Miss Darcy. She isn’t out in the book, but in this she’s out and going to parties and entertaining gentlemen.
