Seit ihrer Zeit in Österreich steht für Nell fest: Sie möchte Gärnterin werden! Doch wie soll sie das nur ihrem Vater klar machen? Der hat für seine Tochter nämlich ganz andere Pläne. Auch auf dem Reiterhof gibt es Streit. Reitlehrer Mikesch möchte drei alte Rennpferde auf dem Hof unterbringen - gegen den Willen von Gutsbesitzer Morberg. Gibt es einen Weg, wie Mikesch Herrn Morberg doch noch überzeugen kann? Mit dem Umzug aufs Land ändert sich Nells Leben komplett: Neue Umgebung, neue Freunde, neue Liebe. Auf dem Reiterhof Dreililien entdeckt der Teenager ihre Leidenschaft für Pferde und findet in Jörn, dem Sohn des Reiterhofbesitzers, ihre erste große Liebe. Im Laufe der zehn Bände, die sich über vier Jahre erstrecken, erlebt Nell so manche Abenteuer, Hindernisse und Turbulenzen auf Dreililien.
Ursula Isbel wurde 1942 in München geboren und ist eine deutsche Schriftstellerin. Sie studierte zunächst Modegrafik, arbeitete dann im Büro und schrieb nebenbei Kindergschichten für den Rundfunk. Seit 1969 veröffentlicht sie eigene Werke in Buchform, darunter auch die beliebte Pferdebuchreihe über Liebe, Leben und Freundschaft auf dem Reiterhof Dreililien, die sie zwischen 1983 und 1994 in insgesamt zehn Bänden veröffentlichte. Ursula Isbel schreibt vorwiegend Jugendliteratur. Außerdem übersetzte sie viele Jugendbücher aus dem Englischen und dem Schwedischen.
