The story

Deep in the tainted lands of the Eightpoints, a child is born during an apocalyptic storm. As omens and prophecies swirl around it, with Archaon himself marking the boy, a brutal hunt begins, each warband striving to claim the child for their own ends. To Burak the Bloodseer and his Untamed Beasts, the child must be found and destroyed before it grows to rival the Everchosen. To Ashrath Silenthis and his Splintered Fang, it is Archaon’s heir and a means of buying his favour. To Lord Rakaros, the fanatical leader of the Scions of the Flame, the child must be given to the fire to prove their dedication to the Three Eyed-King. But as each warband fights for survival across this nightmarish landscape, they are stalked by a hellish and hated enemy: the chosen warriors of Sigmar the Craven. What follows is a brutal struggle that will lead to the very catacombs of the Bloodwind Spoil, where failure means certain death and damnation.

Great characters, unexpected twists all over, grounds the eight points in reality. Fantastic voice work to boot.

One of AOS best books.
My perspective on the Mortal Realms and the struggles of its people is forever changed.

Wow, that was intense!

A lot of characters to keep track of but it makes the story very rich and diverse. The narrators voice is superb. It’s a brutal and unforgiving story that kept my attention the whole way through. Stories like this are making me warm up to AOS more and more.

everything about this book was just great. I absolutely loved it, the characters, the detail, and the voice acting.

GrimDark goodness

The book is a fun dive into the lives of people who know nothing but chaos & the relm of it. from baby murder to backstabbing everyone for your own goals, this is it. It was an enjoyable, violent & ruthless read.

Very gripping story and exceptionally brutal. I’m not a big fan of AoS but this story has changed that completely

Great book

love the books were its not all stormcast dominating everyone. great storytelling and plot. you will enjoy it.

Suprisingly fun

For being a novelization of minor warbands the story remains fun and high-stakes. The part I personally enjoyed the most was of the tbe vanguard Stormcast and the depiction of their immortality, being almost a curse.

An Exercise in Futility

This was a slog to finish. Not because of uninteresting characters or plot, but there are just TOO MANY CHARACTERS. There's about 6 different groups of people that the book focuses on, populated with forgettable chaff and similar names. The few characters that stand out are excellent and the vocal performance was absolutely stellar. This isn't a story that impacts the wider scope of AoS too much, more of an intimate look at life in the hardest areas of the realms. Good, but its problems make me hesitant to recommend it.

Pretty Exciting Book

I was confused at first not knowing much about Warcry but after researching the figures I didn't have much trouble following following along at all. More exciting story than most books from Black Library that also communicates a philosophical lesson.
