Obwohl Payton wie ein offenes Buch scheint, sind ihre wahren Gefühle in einer fremden Sprache verfasst. Es macht mich wahnsinnig, dass ich nicht weiß, was hinter diesen rehbraunen Augen vorgeht. Dexter Reid, der engste Vertraute des Alpha-Bosses, bekommt einen neuen Auftrag. Er soll Payton, die Tochter von Stanley Griffey beschützen, solange Unruhe bei den Green Brothers herrscht. Keinem der beiden gefällt die Situation. Dex, der als Elite-Soldat im Afghanistan gefochten hat, soll eine kleine Prinzessin behüten? Payton, die sich in einem goldenen Käfig gefangen sieht und gegen ihre Familie kämpft, seit sie denken kann, soll sich von einem Bodyguard herumkommandieren lassen? Die Fronten sind klar abgesteckt... eigentlich. Seine dominante Ader ist so anziehend, dass Payton bald nicht mehr weiß, ob sie kämpft, um zu kämpfen, oder vielleicht doch, um von ihm unterworfen zu werden. Ihre kämpferische Art macht Dex verrückt; gleichzeitig gäbe es keinen Krieg, in dem er lieber kämpfen würde.
