Acerca de esta escucha
This first book by the much-loved stars of TV's Village Vets is the unforgettable, hilarious, heartwarming and hair-raising adventures of two country vets, the animals they treat and the characters they meet.
Best mates since they met on their first day at uni, Anthony Bennett and James Carroll both dreamed of working with animals from the time they were young. Committed to and passionate about caring for creatures great and small, they share a mischievous sense of humour and a wonder for life that charms both animals and owners alike.
Warm, funny and fascinating, Village Vets chronicles the lives of these two young Aussie vets before they were famous - their adventures here in Australia and overseas will delight readers of all ages. There are stories of crazy cats, cranky cows, rude cockatoos, unexpected outcomes and miraculous recoveries. They have worked with every animal imaginable - operating on guinea pigs and euthanasing a pet fish, treating a horse that had lost its foot and fixing a prolapsed cow with a piece of polypipe.
As much about the people they meet as about the animals, Village Vets is an unforgettable insight into the heartache and joy of life as a country vet.

Nothing could prepare him for the harsh reality of being a compassionate human and working as an ER doctor. In his emotionally charged memoir, Sovndal examines the tenuous balance between trying to compartmentalize the trauma of tragedy while also preserving his own humanity.

But when Emma finds herself suddenly alone again, heartbroken, mourning the loss of loved ones and recovering from a serious accident, she can't help but wonder if her isolated existence is still such a sensible idea.

But she fell in love with the young horse, who had literally been born into her arms. The breeder finally said she could keep the colt, whom she nicknamed "Baby" - but only if she raced him. It was difficult to take Baby away from the safety of his pasture. But Normile had made a promise.

It’s a year in which, with innate good humour, she encounters death at its most tragic, bizarre, and hilarious. Historia
Animals bring out the goodness, humanity, and optimism in people and speak directly to our souls. This joyous, inspiring, and entertaining Chicken Soup collection relates the unique bonds between animals and the people whose lives they've changed: such as the dolphins who helped a paralyzed woman heal when doctors offered little hope; the dog who brought life into a failing marriage; the kitten who helped a mother mourn; and the flying squirrel who taught a man the power of laughter.

Historia
Monty Roberts' father, a traditional horse trainer, had taught his son to dominate a horse in order to "break" it. But when he was 13, Monty made a discovery that changed his life. As he watched a mare tame a rebellious colt, Monty saw that she was speaking to it through eye and body movements. Astonished, Monty realized that he could train horses by using their language, speaking to them in ways that would form trust and understanding. Developing techniques based on what he learned from the horses around him, Monty embarked on a remarkable career - one that would bring him international fame as the real Horse Whisperer.

Historia
Some people's lives are entirely their own creations. James Rebanks' isn't. He's the first son of a shepherd who was the first son of a shepherd himself; his family have lived and worked in the Lake District of Northern England for generations, further back than recorded history. It's a part of the world known mainly for its romantic descriptions by Wordsworth and the much-loved illustrated children's books of Beatrix Potter. But James' world is quite different. His way of life is ordered by the seasons and the work they demand.

Enjoyable light book
I bought this book because I’m a big fan of James Herriot. This book was quite different. The stories were less funny or clever but still enjoyable, especially in the middle and the end when their careers are more developed. The vets lead interesting lives and I enjoyed learning more about their world.
