Aber in Düsterwacht, wo der Magier lebt, den Clyde braucht, geht es ganz anders zu als anderswo in Vuldranni. Jeder ist auf sich selbst gestellt, und einen Gefallen gibt es nicht. Um überhaupt mit dem Magier sprechen zu können, muss Clyde sich auf eine Reihe absurder Aufgaben einlassen, für die er keine Zeit hat und die er wahrscheinlich nicht überleben wird.
