Authenticity is Needed
This is a good story, but black culture is not present. I struggled to get through this story. The historic aspect is spot on, but this story is one of the reasons that I believe the black experience needs to written by black people.

Predictable, drawn out and down right corny at times . The narrator even forgot what voice she was portraying at the end

I can't believe I paid for this book. it's nothing like the first in the series. mist of the time, I couldn’t figure who was talking (Emily or Caro). Caro' character was developed as if she was 13. juvenile and ridiculous. the "miss Sass" was obnoxious. it belittled the weight of slavery and war.
